The short version: Utena likes her! She's still grateful to her for answering her questions when she was new to Johto, and the more they chat, the more Utena respects her. One might assume that this is because of Twilight's intelligence and knowledge, but that's not it (though, that is a part of it). What Utena admires most is Twilight's determination in her pursuit of knowledge. Twilight goes out and actively investigates the world around her, doing difficult and sometimes risky work in the process. Plus, on top of this, she uses what she learns to help out everyone around her. What's not to like?

However...there is one thing that Utena feels awkward about. Earlier in the year Fluttershy mentioned that they weren't human (at least, not originally), and Utena's not sure how to feel about that. She doesn't think any less of Twilight by any means, but she does have some trouble wrapping her head around the idea, and she doesn't know how to broach the subject with Twilight Sparkle (or, if she even should). As she gets fully adjusted to Johto's general weirdness, though, she'll probably come to more or less accept it as just One of Those Things that happen around here.

To be honest, Utena thinks that she's kind of nuts. After all, the first time she saw her was the duel with Archer, and between putting Whitney in a headlock and the whole emperor thing, she's not sure what to make of her. Despite that, though, Utena has a strong (if grudging) respect for her. For Saber has mastered the grand art of Not Giving a Fuck, which has given her a sort of boldness and confidence that Utena's never seen before. Plus, after the emotional manipulation she went through back in Ohtori, I think it might be sort of encouraging to see a woman with Saber's devil-may-care attitude. I don't think Utena realizes this consciously, but it does strengthen the respect she has for her.

...to be fair it's really tough to get cuter than Hakuno, especially in Saber's eyes

it's hard being classier than everyone else

it's hard and no one understands

Comrade in awesomeness and Cosmos-ness! (They should get team badges or something, really.) Lightning is on Cecil’s ‘Can Be Trusted With Ceodore’s Safety If He Shows Up’ list, which is about as high as people can get in his esteem. If he absolutely had to tell someone about his... unfortunate canon point circumstances, she’d be one of his only two choices. Also, he intends to take her out for drinks at some point, because they’ve both lost way too many people during their stay here and they need it.

Ash: Hello there, boy his kid’s age who knows a lot about about Pokémon and not a lot about technology! Ash likes talking with him, both for the sake of talking and because some of that info’s really useful. Though he’s learned to ignore that part about the mystery meat by now, lucky him. ...He was also a little disappointed when he figured out that their second discussion was Yamask-induced, because he has a soft spot for people who want to change the system.

Cecil: Someone else who doesn’t get how the Pokémon population can sustain itself! Yay! As someone who likes to overthink their situation but is better with the societal part of it, he greatly admires the knowledge of nature Apollo has shown. He’d be quite happy to talk to him again, unless it’s under particularly bad circumstances.

…Ash tries, really, I swear, but somehow Menma has become the unliving proof that he’s wayyyy behind on that whole ‘being a responsible adult around kids’ thing. (Which isn’t that surprising, considering some of his advice to Kio during the series.) But he likes her and her cheerful disposition quite a lot, and maybe someday he’ll have genuine good advice to offer her.

yes they need team badges She'd be touched by his trust, really. :3 very touched. Not likely to say anything so much as buy him a drink if he ever talks about his canon point, but touched anyway.

Also. >> Considering that Ara has plans to bring Leon back for a visit in 4th wall, they can have drinks after. A toast to friends gone but not forgotten.

Before I get into tl;dr, I will say the one thing that stands out the most; Kairi scares the ever loving shit out of him.

She is one of the first people he met at Route, and somehow she has a way of completely getting under his skin. She gets past his defenses before he knows he even needs to block himself out, and upon realizing it he started to feel really unsure about everything. Backstory time for this to make more sense.

If it weren't for his need for vengeance, Sasuke would have lost the will to live on the night his family was murdered. Before then, Itachi was the person he trusted more than anyone in the entire world. Yes, even more than his own parents. A betrayal from him is not an easy thing to recover from, especially with how that betrayal came about. I know Sasuke's goals are to kill his brother and restore his clan, but honestly? I don't know how the hell he expects to do the latter when his brother/revenge blinders are on almost all the time. For years, it's all he's had to live for.

It was happening too gradually for him to really notice in his own world, but it's been happening much faster because of Kairi and because of the fact that he's taking care of pokémon. Sasuke has started to care about (and trust) things other than himself again since coming to Route, so suddenly there's more to live for than vengeance. There's something to think about after he carries it out. At the tournament, upon realizing that he cares more about the fact that his pokémon were badly hurt and he was powerless to do anything about it rather than the fact that he got his ass handed to him by Riku, he got confused. Part of him is blaming Kairi for this, as he didn't care seemingly until she came into his life. She started turning every perception of his life upside down.

Overall, he does enjoy her company. He started to be able to feel less guarded around her (and, consequently, Riku and Sora too), but now that he's realized it he's trying to push her away more actively. That's why he's telling her that he plans to murder his older brother first, without telling her the why (though as that thread continues I have a feeling that it will spill out eventually). He knows it's going to be painful to separate, but he feels like he has to push now before he gets in much deeper. Otherwise... He doesn't know what will happen. The last person he trusted with everything destroyed his life. Whether it's to protect himself from that happening to him again or to protect his newer relationships from meeting the same fate at his brother's hands, hell he doesn't know. But he thinks he knows that he has to go after Itachi alone, and he can't rely on anyone. Not his pokemon, not Riku or Sora, and definitely not Kairi. Power of friendship doesn't have him convinced since all those lovey dovey bonds ended up hurting him more than anything else could.

Not to mention part of gaining more power... From Itachi's mouth, he heard it as 'to kill your own best friend', and looking over the Uchiha archives it's 'to know the pain of death of the one closest to you'. Either way, it's not pretty and something Sasuke isn't sure he's willing to put himself - or anyone else, especially not someone that important - through.

Again, TL;DR - Kairi is making Sasuke realize that he has squishy feelings and is getting attached, and it's scaring the shit out of him.

Ash: Poor Apollo thinks about the mystery meat every day, since meat's the main thing he eats. ^^; Ash seemed to be the only one who really figured out that something was up there, out of the people who'd talked to Apollo before then. If you're interested, it might be possible for Ash to end up with the Yamask responsible for that conversation at some point. You know, once it gets over the whole "I'm dead and the only thing I accomplished during my brief time 'alive' again was to take away the free will of a random kid and I don't want to forget about my life I don't want to fade away just let me hide in the PC because I've heard a rumor that Pokémon are immortal as long as they stay in the PC oh Arceus please I don't want to die again or forget that I'm dead again please..." thing.

I would like to ask, how well did I manage to make Yamask!Apollo sound like he supported a position that I disagree with?

Cecil: Apollo would be fine talking with him again too, as long as the post is in regards to something he's interested in. Which is always the hard part about getting him to respond to stuff.

Kairi, Kairi, Kairi.

She's always been a huge part of Riku's life sever since they were little kids. As one of his best friends, Kairi means the world to Riku, and the only person really as close to his heart is Sora. Even though she's matured and been through way more than he has, he still feels pretty protective of her. If anyone were to lay a hand on Kairi, you can bet that he'd snap into action. Not that she isn't strong; on the contrary, Riku knows she can take care of herself, but after losing her so many times in Johto/Kanto, he does find himself sticking a lot closer. After all, she could leave at any minute; he doesn't want to waste a single second.

There is still that crush of his. It's one of those things that hasn't really faded even after his time in Pokéland, which left him... confused by the time she returned. She'd been gone for roughly a year, so having her suddenly back in his life again hit him pretty hard. He's definitely grateful for her presence; she keeps him out of trouble and knows how to cheer him up when he's in one of those stupid, stubborn moods.

It's especially helped after Xion left because she along with Ven became a sort of surrogate for Sora and Kairi in their absence. Having his two best buds around to comfort him especially when Ven's off in Johto really helped soften the blow.

But yeah, overall, he really appreciates her, even ignoring his doofy feelings.

Archer is a bro! Envy's actually pretty glad he's here, because they can't both have somehow completely imagined their whole life/version of Amestris. But besides that, Archer is interesting to talk to, and Envy is definitely a fan of talking to anyone with not-so-great morals now that he's surrounded himself with good guys. Envy will pretty much answer most of the questions Archer might ask. Because, well, it's not like their plans haven't already fallen apart and most of the others are dead anyway, so he's not going to be so secretive about general homunculus stuff. Especially the parts that make him look cool, so he will tell Archer all he ever wanted to know about superpowers and the like.

As for Isaac, Envy doesn't have a real solid opinion on him either aside from 'this guy is fun to poke fun at and also seems too serious'. He was kind of impressed with the Pokemon sparring, though!

UGH WHY ARE YOU EVEN ALLOWED TO EXIST >:(

... would basically cover it, but! While Cobra is definitely not on the very top of the list of people Crow hates in general, he sure does take the cake Route-wise. Literally everything about his attitude irritates Crow for obvious reasons, especially since there's not much that can be done about it. Which is why he's satisfied with the result of their last battle, since he actually sort of expects Cobra to accept the fact he's been shown his place or something. Although he does see Cobra as an actual threat to people, he seriously can't wrap his head around the whole "take over the world to rule it" reasoning as he finds it so ridiculously shallow it just can't be real.

hay princess - kairi.

He somewhat doesn't know how to approach her for conversation, outside of small talk. Her light and kindness somewhat remind him of Ventus (TOO NICE FOR THEIR OWN GOOD, GOSH YOU LIGHT HEARTED PEOPLE NGHYGHG), but since he's had some major changes with his life, it's not so strange anymore. He kind of looked out for past Kairis (one got hurt so he sent his bird to go heal her), and the older one still has that derpderp to get herself into trouble the same sort of way; then again, she's got Riku and Sora right there to whip some butts if she gets into said trouble, so, he doesn't feel like he has to do anything. UH.. well, overall, I guess their relationship is just casual acquaintances. They know each other and they talk sometimes.
