Everyone save for his team who's found out even one of those things has never looked at him the same again.] They're... I mean, please don't take offense. I'm not--it's not that I think you're judgmental, but they're both deeply stigmatized. Even doctors who examine me or see my medical history make judgments.

[Part of the reason why he hates hospitals so much. He knows the look every single doctor and nurse give him when they see him in a hospital gown and see those awful little scars dotting the inside of his elbow. It's the look that says no matter what he says, how many degrees he has, or who he works for, he'll always be one thing and one thing only: a low-life addict. It's made him skittish about anyone else knowing.]

You have complexities and facets well in excess of the ways you're quick to define yourself. You're interesting. You're familiar. And you're entirely too entertaining when you're flustered.

I told you your problem is that you're missing the forest for the trees. It's not that you have a trait that makes me like you; that suggests that without that trait, I wouldn't. The analysis is that I like you — and therefore, everything that comes with it.

[He pauses, hesitating, before gritting his teeth and going ahead. This didn't used to be at all difficult to admit to, but then again he didn't used to care what anyone thought of him. And in this case he cares a whole lot.]

Also, those were a lot of compliments. Compliments he hasn't really heard before. He does not know what to do with these compliments. So, uh, give him a second to formulate a response.]

It's universal. Some places have fewer reports about it due to culture, but the rates, reported or unreported, largely stay the same. Chances are, if you've gone to a city or have met more than one hundred people in your lifetime, you've known someone with it. It's not always very obvious or dramatic, and people can have it and live completely normal lives.

[Of course, when he's nervous, he will spout trivia. Yay, trivia!

If you content yourself with living out your life as a number on a test result or a library of facts, you're sidelining yourself from everything else you could be. It would be a disservice to the achievements of the greatest men in history to confine them to any one category of their pursuits — limiting da Vinci to a great painter or Franklin to a great diplomat. I don't see any reason to constrain you, either.

Well, I was never on the gameshow, but there were a couple of times I totally got all the answers right before the kids on the TV did.

... And also a couple times where Dad got too enthusiastic and yelled the answers before I did, but I guess that counts in HIS favor more than mine.
