This guy is Heather's starter, and he is the quintessential Big Dumb Friendly Dog that people tend to either love or hate. He's enormous, stupid as a box of hammers, and loves everyone.
Background: Heather's relationship with him went through several phases, beginning with venomous hate (considering she has a phobia of both dogs and fire, Cujo was pretty much like an overlapping circle graph containing everything she hates. The nickname 'Cujo' began purely as a pejorative; eventually it just stuck as his actual name because he started answering to it) and poorly-disguised fear, which became empathy during a particularly nightmarish event during which she beat the crud out of him, thinking he was a monster from back home. When he stayed by her side to protect her anyway, she came to start caring about him, and ever since then has slowly been working towards coping with her phobia.
Current Relationship: At this point, she is almost completely comfortable with Cujo, even playfighting with him and Not Having Terrible Panic Attacks when she wakes up to him jumping all over her. Although she continues to call him all the same insulting names she did when she first got him, it's out of affection now (even though he's not really smart enough to know the difference) and she genuinely loves her big dumb mutt. That said, despite having had a Firestone carefully wrapped up in her bag for YEARS now, Heather is extremely reluctant to evolve him. Despite the fact that she has become incredibly close to and comfortable with him, she's seen what an Arcanine looks like and is secretly a little afraid that if he becomes that big, she'll start being scared of him again.
Noticeable Traits: For one, Cujo is enormous. Part of it is overfeeding (Heather is a terrible owner and shares scraps with him constantly, and he is also a champion beggar so he gets scraps from everybody else too), part of it is a ridiculously shaggy coat, and part of it is just that he happens to be a particularly large sample of his species. Being about the size of a St. Bernard (although a bit... stumpier), he has occasionally been mistaken for a very tiny Arcanine.
Plots and Ideas: Well, at some point I would like Heather to evolve him, but since that's something of a big deal with her, I've been waiting for some seriously dire circumstances for it to happen. Chances are she wouldn't do it willingly unless it was out of desperation, either for someone else's safety or her own. Maybe someone would be interested in plotting out something with the aim of that happening?
