[The way that the blond talks implies that he's from a different time, at least, if not a different place, so strange as that is, he'll forgive the man not having heard the great Togami name.

He inclines his head in the way one of higher rank returns a bow from their lesser, the prim picture of good breeding.]

Ramza. So you find yourself as mysteriously brought here as myself...

Yes, Sir Togami. I awoke here a few weeks ago, stripped of my weapons and rank.
[He's been looking into making weapons of his own, but... stripped of his rank? Ramza only mentions that for his next bit.]
Is it the same for you? The natives of this land seem not to know of the nobles of Ivalice...
[Which is good. Helps him run away. He is standing from his bow, though still showing his respects by standing straight, meeting Togamis' eyes.
Perhaps... perhaps he should offer his services? He's not quite sure yet.]

It seems everyone I meet here has a similar story.

[The question makes him grind his teeth briefly.]

Unfortunately so. The name of Togami is useless here as a political tool.

[The heir doesn't seem pleased about that. His Sableye looks up at him curiously and then stares at Ramza with her unblinking, gemstone eyes.]

[...A political tool. Much like his own former name... Ramza bites his lip, giving a slight grunt to himself. No, this doesn't seem like the sort to get used - does this man?
But that Sableye does look rather... scary. Ramza gives a bit of a look to it, taking a few steps back. That thing scares him - at least it doesn't have one of those odd birthmarks his Pokemon all seemed to have.]
That's a pity. [He says, though, staying his tongue. If he yelled at him about the truth... it would totally ruin his fleeing.] All of us begin from the same spot, no matter what we were before.
...Tell me, are you interested in having an assistant? [Servant...? No, that wouldn't be the right word. Ramza is interested in how differently their worlds are. Plus, he hasn't had anything to do, either... except for track down these Pokemon with odd birth marks.]

[Spoiler alert, Togami is used to getting his way because of his name. Taking that away from him is like taking... Well, it is taking his family name. He needs that!! Without his family name, he's just a Super High School Level Prat.

He raises an eyebrow at the offer, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose.]

Are you asking if you can travel with me? [He considers the offer.] If you wish. I could use an assistant.

[He shakes his head. Ramza is still getting used to not getting special treatment, abandoning his former name - but this was his choice.]
Not just that. As I said, I was a sellsword - I wish to help you, at least against the monsters on the road. [You don't look like you can fight - yes, Ramza fights Pokemon alongside his team. He's curious about what it would be like working for a noble... even though he won't get paid. The experience is enough.]

[Togami doesn't bother pointing out that it's supposed to be the pokemon doing the fighting. If nothing else, the sight will be entertaining.]

Very well. Your offer is accepted.

...I have no way of compensating you, however. At least, not at the moment.

[puh-lease you will marvel at the power of thrown rocks and shouting at things and by marvel i mean probably think ramza is nuts]
That is fine.
[He gives a pause.]
It will be interesting seeing nobles of different lands. But, in exchange, I may leave if there is something I must attend to, without proper warning.
[He looks a little ashamed at this. Because he's sort of interested in that bug-catching contest, and so if he gets close to it he is going.]

[Goddamnit he thought he got away from the crazy people.]

That's fair.

[He doesn't need your company, after all, he's gracing you with his.]

Very well.
[Ramza does give a nod, before looking back down at that Sableye. He can't resist any more...]
That creature - is it some sort of demon?
[Yes. He sees his metal bird as fine, his pancake-thing as fine, but creepy gemstone thing? Nope.]

[The Sableye tilts her head curiously, and then her jagged mouth splits into an unnerving grin as she waves one clawed hand at Ramza.]

Hardly. It was the companion I received on my arrival.

Does it unsettle you?

[Urgh, yeah, that is unnerving to the max. Ramza stays still for a moment, before grabbing a Pokeball from his belt.]
A little. But it seems a more fitting companion then my first.
[And out comes the Stunfisk.]

[WHAT THE HELL IS THAT.]

...It looks brain-damaged.

[...Hey. Suddenly, Ramza looks grumpy.]
Though it is flat, I think it's fine.
[Why, Ramza.]
It is just... a different kind of monster. It can still fight, like any other.

[A slow, condescending eyebrow raise is the only response that that first part is going to get.

That face, Ramza. That face.]

I don't doubt it. All the monsters here are capable of fighting in some capacity or another.

And it does not like being insulted!
[Ramza says - as the fish (?) is starting to spark a little. Sure, it might be a little slow. But...]

[The Sableye lets out a warning hiss and gets between her master and the pancake fish thing.]

I'm not apologizing to it.
