[Now, Rin didn't know a lot about making swords, but he had read a lot of manga. And when the main character broke his sword, the blacksmith pretty much threw it in a fire and - tada! Insta-sword and dramatic reveal about how important sword making was.

Rin stuck his hands into his pockets as he took a look at the sword materials.]

That's because you're tryin' to make a sword with a rock. You need heat or something to even make the blade stay. [Unless he was going for the cave man look, then he's got it down pat.] ...Or you could tie a better knot.

[Rin was pretty sure he was giving good advice.]

[Walter arches an eyebrow.]

'Twere as simple as finding a smith, I'd do that. [He drops his head and squeezes the bridge of his nose aggravatedly.] A blunt weapon's better than none, I suppose...blast...

[He shakes his head and gets to his feet, looking Rin over. Seems like a friendly guy, kind of...maybe scatterbrained. But then, all foreigners seem a little scattered, in Walter's opinion.

He sticks his hands in his pockets.] Can I help you, then? [whatchoo doin over here dude]

[Poor guy must have just gotten to Johto. But hey! At least he would have a 15 year old tour guide. His wonderfully mature and experienced guide will start with the obvious:] You have a fire type pokemon. It could do the smith thing for you.

[And already he has left out all other important information. Granted, Rin was sure his flames could make a better sword.

But that would be tooting his own horn. Even if he could. It seemed as if Walter already had him pegged! Rin wasn't sure what to think of him yet but his first impression was pretty good.]

[He just shrugs at the Pokemon-related suggestion. Even if he had any idea of where to start with forging a sword...who knew if it'd keep an edge either, or what being forged in demonic flame would do to it. He's not going to be the one to try it out when the alternative is a decent bludgeoning stick.

Swordsman? Walter stands up a little straighter.]

More or less. I know swords about well enough to use one. [Doesn't care much for the art of it, just the hitting things with it part.]
