Mondo actually hits a resonant note with Parker because she spent a fair chunk of her life running with a gang (boosting cars, primarily) prior to getting picked up and trained into the variety of thief she currently is, and car-stealing in particular gets her because for a while she had an accomplice, a guy a little younger than Mondo, who actually ditched her on a heist gone bad and left her to get caught by the police and shipped off to juvie (which contributes partially to her mistrust of people and her abandonment complex). So he's got that going for him, too — hitting the right notes of THUG LYFE and "decent guy" in a good combination for her to feel at home with him. c:
