OK so...Ishimaru is annoying and irritating and sometimes Leon just wants to ask how the hell did you survive your childhood without getting lynched by the other kids in the playground for being such an obnoxious goody goody, but at the same time there's a lot about Ishimaru that Leon does respect even if begrudgingly so. Leon thinks Ishimaru is an ass but at least he's an ass who tries to help the rest of the class out. And he also works hard and just seems very confident and sure of himself, all traits that Leon can recognize as positive. Just...why are you so weird and lawful Ishimaru if you weren't then you'd be some Leon could actually hang out with without face-palmning and being embarrassed for being seen with you in public. Clearly it is up to Leon to teach you how to function like a normal human being. Except...Ishimaru is stubborn. He's stubborn and set in his ways and Leon's also stubborn and set in his ways, and neither side wants to give in and that just makes Leon frustrated and snappy and et voila, the unstoppable force has met the immovable object and THE UNIVERSE HAS EXPLODED. Ok, it hasn't. But it does mean that Leon doesn't particularly like Ishimaru and finds being around him unbearable at times.

And then there's the whole Celes thing, which just...pisses Leon off, frankly speaking. It can't be healthy to have the person who tried to kill you in the same house. Leon still doesn't really understand how or why Ishimaru did it, but it just doesn't stick with him as the right thing to do even if Celes is their classmate. To Leon it was like...Ishimaru was deliberately hurting himself for no good reason and it irked Leon so much that he couldn't convince Ishimaru otherwise. STOP BEING STUBBORN.

Really, Ishimaru is the one person Leon has decided he will never get along with. Nearly every single conversation they've had has resulted in bad feelings on Leon's part because Ishimaru just...doesn't...get it! They get into arguments because they both adhere to two completely different set of values and like hell will Leon ever side with law and rules. But for a guy who says a huge amount of insensitive stuff, he's not deliberately insensitive and he genuinely doesn't want to hurt people's feelings. After what happened when Ishimaru returned from his canon update, Leon felt really like a crappy guy for inadvertently kicking a guy when he's down. He didn't mean to but it was obvious that Ishimaru had taken a terrible hit and Leon had just poured salt and vinegar into the wounds with extra lemon juice to top off the marinade. Leon left Dangan House because he really wanted to be considerate to Ishimaru's feelings but he couldn't trust himself to not accidentally do something stupid. Like make Ishimaru pancakes with heaps of butter for breakfast. Boy, that would've been the SHSL Disaster of the year.

So tl;dr? Ishimaru you're a class pain, but you're Leon's class pain and he cares about you even if you drive him up the wall.

Someone tell this poor boy about Ishida before it's too late.
