I guess, unless you're a Fire type.
[Unfortunately, much as her intuition tells her no don't do it, Maka has a good heart and the literal god-given duty to protect and take care of morons. Even rolling out another towel to pass over to some weird man that fell in the river counts. Maybe.]
Were you fishing? You won't find much there except for Magikarp, and if you were looking for something to eat, well...Magikarp aren't something you can cook over a campfire. [Not that she's tried, Maka's just heard attempts at frying and eating Magikarp bring the result of "they are hard as rocks and need to be prepared in a specific way."]

Karamatsu makes a pretty big show of trying to get his hair smoothed back into its usual state, trying to ignore how water-logged his jacket is right now. Eventually, he has no choice but to take it off so he can wring it out...giving Maka an unfortunately close view of the tank-top he was wearing underneath. It is absolutely covered in blue sequins.
He looks up at her when she says that, though, a brow quirking as he wrings water out of his jacket sleeve.]
You can eat those?
[Not that he's...tried or anything...]

Be strong, Maka, be strong for mother. Remember your manners. Hide the disgusted upturn of your mouth by fussing with slinging the bag over your shoulders and standing.
It's fiiiiiine.]
[(Is this guy some renegade from the bikers she knew in Violet??)]
no subject
[Be strong for mother.]

He shakes out his jacket before standing to toss it over a nearby low-hanging tree branch to dry, wishing he had a fire type and not so many water types on him instead.]
Hmph. I wasn't getting very many bites anyway...and I won't now, now that my pole's gone.
no subject
[She just. Said that on impulse. There's no way this guy could get more painful than he's already proving to be, so it's fine.]
Or, like, however you need help. It wouldn't do to just drop you off and ditch you, right?
no subject
[...ha. Did she really just say that?]
No, I...I suppose not.
[No, Kara, focus. Be cool.
Karamatsu turns to face Maka again, dipping his head slightly to her with what he hopes is a wry smile.]
I appreciate the offer, but I couldn't possibly ask you to do that for me. I should be the one helping you, a beautiful young lady like yourself, not the other way around.
no subject
[For a moment, she just stares--eyebrow raising and head tilting.
Did...did he just say that? Who says that? To Maka of all people? Soul often did the pretend cool guy thing too but he never talked like that to girls.]
...That's...nice [??] of you to say, but I insist. [He almost drowned, he is in no position to be offering help.] At least let me treat you to lunch or something.
no subject
The Seadra in the water suddenly burbles, as if trying to warn Maka to be careful what she says, but by now it's already too late.]
Lunch? Together? That would be splendid~
[Karamatsu reaches down into the water and retrieves his sunglasses (which had somehow managed to wash up onto the bank) and hooks them on the collar of his shirt before addressing Maka again with a slight tip of his head.]
You can call me Karamatsu.
no subject
(No, Maka, this is all a mistake.)
(And how in the hell did he know his glasses would be there anyway??)]
Sure. I'm Maka. What about your Pokemon there? [Sorry brave Seadra, Maka is utterly oblivious to the extent of the painful alarm bells.]
no subject
Karamatsu gestures to the Seadra, who pokes her head up out of the water with a little wiggle of her fins.]
This is Hana. She is beautiful, isn't she?
[Instead of basking in the praise, the Seadra sortof lowers back into the water a bit with a gurgle, a sort of 'oh my god stop you're embarrassing me' kind of gesture.]
no subject
[Shy and modest Pokemon are...kind of cute, though. Not that she's going to say anything like that, Hana has probably been through enough already with...this fellow.]
Hana and Karamatsu, then. I didn't take the time to introduce you, but the one that brought you over was my Lapras Laila. [She indicates the Pokeballs on her belt.] And these are the rest I have right now. I have a Fire type if you wanted some extra drying power.
no subject
Oh no, of course she does!
[DAD STOP TALKING.
Karamatsu turns to Laila then, flashing her a smile of gratitude.]
Ah, Laila~ Thank you for saving me! Without you, I may as well have been at the bottom of this river, languishing in the dark, deadly shallows.
[You can swim, Karamatsu.
His attention is caught by the mention of Fire types, though. People keep telling him how useful they are, even though he doesn't have one of his own yet.]
A Fire type, you say?
no subject
わかりません。。。?
Her too, Laila.]
The current isn't strong here, besides Hana wouldn't have let you stay under for very long I bet.
[Uh. She hopes? Maybe?
Oh, never mind, if he's asking about it Maka's going to show by example--stepping back to give some space as the Arcanine she then lets out is yet another rather large Pokemon.
(Tiny girl keeps large Pokemon, it's almost stereotypical enough to be charming.)]
Argos. [The dog shakes itself off, sitting heavily to the ground with an eager WOOF! The thing radiates heat so obviously Maka doesn't have to actively command it to lend its fire power.] This is Karamatsu and Hana, Karamatsu needs help with drying off, okay? [The answer via tail thudding to the ground seems to show that Argos is more than willing to assist.]
no subject
Ah...good to meet you, Argos. What kind of Pokemon is this?
no subject
[So that's probably why Maka doesn't bat an eye when the dog just...flops to the ground with a shaking THUD and proceeds to roll onto his back.]
He does that. You can pet him if you want.
no subject
[To his credit, Karamatsu only hesitates briefly before stepping over to pat the big dog on the head. That's pretty much what this is, right? A big dog...that breathes fire...]
He's amazing! He looks like a tiger, almost...
[He's...beautiful.
...hmmm.]
Where did you get him, if you've had him for so long?
no subject
[Argos ain't have a care in the world about that, happily accepting attention like the oversized puppy he is.]
You can also find Vulpix there, they're another good option for Fire types, though Growlithe end up stronger.
