Gordon’s really glad to have Reid around.

On a professional level, Gordon’s not exactly happy with the current law enforcement situation in Johto, so having more people around who know what they’re doing is automatically a plus. Add in the fact that Reid’s some sort of prodigy and Gordon’s even happier to have him around.

On a personal level, he seems pretty nice, if a little strange. And Gordon’s okay with that. He can deal with a little strangeness. He’d definitely like to get to know Reid better, and maybe have some more nonwork related conversations that don’t involve someone being possessed by ghosts.

The short version of it is basically Gordon’s icon.

Okay, but no, the very simple answer is that Carmen really likes brilliance. There's a part in canon where she says outright, "Competition's fine, but I'd rather someone showed me something they were good at. Then I'd really learn something, wouldn't I?" (this following an adventure where one of her henchmen tried to impersonate her and usurp her title). And she really does just like people — meeting them, learning about them, seeing what they're good at, sampling what makes them unique.

The other thing that she's good at is (predictably) education, but not just in the sense of teaching people; she's good at looking at a person and seeing their potential and then doing things designed to draw it out. Conversely, she'll figure out a place where someone needs work and she'll throw something at them to try to fix it, or take it upon herself to motivate them to do so and so on.

There's an episode in canon where Carmen actually sets up an entire caper specifically to draw out this one detective who's obsessed with catching her (and has been for years) to try to tempt him into giving up sleuthing and becoming her accomplice — basically, the same choice she made herself ten years ago. Reid, I think, has a lot of that same potential for her. She gets invested in the lives of brilliant people because she wants to push them and challenge them and drive them to keep reaching past their own limits so they'll see just how far they can really go. And if, god forbid, she thinks they have a problem that they're not overcoming on their own, she'll scheme a way to address it because LOL SHE'S HELPING.

So with Reid, the interest is kind of twofold. The obvious one is that he is brilliant and it doesn't take a genius to see that, and so she's naturally inclined to be like OMG SHOW ME EVERYTHING YES OMG STUPID TRIVIA BABBLE FOREVER THIS IS FASCINATING AND OH MY GOD YOU ARE SO SMART THIS IS MAGICAL, because she is a nerd and it's pretty obvious that nerdiness is what he excels at. When he starts putting his other talents on display, she'll get enthralled by those, too — particularly the magic, because then that's like a game in itself.

The not-so-obvious one is that she's also spotted that he's not the greatest with people, and so it's her inclination to fix that, in her own Carmenish way — which in this case happens to be forcing him to deal with her. Her guess thus far is that she can make him subconsciously comfortable by enabling and encouraging his geekiness, while simultaneously making him address and practice the social stuff he's not as good at by, y'know, getting all up in his business and flirting the hell out of him.

(Also, she's just naturally flirty. She flirts with everybody. Meaningful long-term social interaction, she's still kind of fail at, but that is neither here nor there.)

So yeah, basically Reid is fun and smart and he hits a lot of her pings, and most importantly he's fun to play with — and since Carmen's greatest flaw is her tendency to get bored, it's always good to have things that interest her around.

Mitsuki thinks Menma as one of the most adorable persons whom she's met here. Sure, she's supersocial and befriends people easily... But she feels like she has this weird connection with Menma and she has felt like a little sister figure to her ever since their first conversation, so hopefully Menma won't think that's she's creepy or crazy or anything bad D;. And she really means it when she says that if Menma ever needs anything, she can give Mitsu a call. Aaaand she'd be glad to do all the fun things with her, whenever they're in the same city. And introduce her to Takuto because Takuto has heard a lot about Menma by now <.<. Poor boy, hopefully his ears are still there...

Shiraishi on Mitsuki

In the beginning it was confusing to meet a girl who knew him so well without Shiraishi knowing a thing about her. He didn't let it bother him too much as there are quite a few like that. Instead he's tried to get to know her and he wants to be her friend.

Shiraishi thinks Mitsuki's pure, cute and beautiful - all at the same time. She's got this nice aura around her that makes him feel happy when they talk (well at least when the topic isn't too sad or anything). However, he's not really attracted to her in a romantic way, because he senses there's a jealous boyfriend protecting her instead it's more like a family thing. Older sister, kind of?

She's also one of the people he really trusts in Johto.

Actually, the same thing happened with both Mitsuki and Winry; so much confusion over knowing him from before. Though with Winry it wasn't as bad since they didn't know that well before so it was even easier to push the thoughts aside and get to know her.

Winry's definitely like an older sister. That's mostly because of the fact that she was there when he woke up from his coma and was there for him. He knows he can go talk to Winry if there's something bothering him and that she'd be there for him - and he wishes to be there for her too, should she need it. He doesn't really get all her mechanics talk - but then again people usually don't understand his poisonous plants talk so - but it always makes him smile how enthusiastic she's about them.

Once again, there's no romantic feelings attached here. It's just the friend and kinf of family for him. Someone he can trust and depend. Winry's one of his most important friends.

In truth? Lightning...kind of doesn't know what to think with Coop. On the one hand, Leon trusted him and called him a friend, not to mention he's an all around good guy and she really does appreciate his work ethic. (especially when ICly compared to the majority of people in the Corps. >>) On the other hand, she really doesn't know him well enough to form a more...detailed opinion of him? Like, she'd be there if he needs help in a battle, but...emotionally? ...yeah that doesn't quite work yet.

TL;DR: Allies, friendship to be decided upon later.

Fluttershy, you are good people.

Reid doesn't get to see a lot of innocent, genuinely kind people in his job, so Fluttershy is very refreshing to know. He likes talking to her and would lend a hand any time she needed it, but he wouldn't be willing to talk too much about his job or life to her. She was deeply affected by the mere concept of murder, so he isn't exactly eager to introduce her to things like sexual sadism or violent psychopathy. She's a breath of fresh air, and he has no interest in soiling her innocent worldview.

Menma thinks Mitsuki is a the kindest girl she met so far. Not only she was so much helpful first time they talked, she also quickly got her out of the mindset that this world was heaven. Without that, Menma would have gone on and on about it and possibly she would have had arguments with people over it. She doesn't think Mitsuki is crazy or anything, rather, the eagerness over being friends sure made her so happy that she'd give Mitsuki a big hug when they finally meet in person!

Menma is currently heading for Goldenrod finally, if they're lucky they can meet there! My next post at around the end of the month might be a chance to talk again, we only had a thread and Menma kinda miss her first friend.
