Shiraishi on my two cheerful girls, and Ren on my butterfly

Shiraishi on Mitsuki

In the beginning it was confusing to meet a girl who knew him so well without Shiraishi knowing a thing about her. He didn't let it bother him too much as there are quite a few like that. Instead he's tried to get to know her and he wants to be her friend.

Shiraishi thinks Mitsuki's pure, cute and beautiful - all at the same time. She's got this nice aura around her that makes him feel happy when they talk (well at least when the topic isn't too sad or anything). However, he's not really attracted to her in a romantic way, because he senses there's a jealous boyfriend protecting her instead it's more like a family thing. Older sister, kind of?

She's also one of the people he really trusts in Johto.

Shiraishi on Winry

Actually, the same thing happened with both Mitsuki and Winry; so much confusion over knowing him from before. Though with Winry it wasn't as bad since they didn't know that well before so it was even easier to push the thoughts aside and get to know her.

Winry's definitely like an older sister. That's mostly because of the fact that she was there when he woke up from his coma and was there for him. He knows he can go talk to Winry if there's something bothering him and that she'd be there for him - and he wishes to be there for her too, should she need it. He doesn't really get all her mechanics talk - but then again people usually don't understand his poisonous plants talk so - but it always makes him smile how enthusiastic she's about them.

Once again, there's no romantic feelings attached here. It's just the friend and kinf of family for him. Someone he can trust and depend. Winry's one of his most important friends.

Ren on Utau

Ren has had his eyes on Utau from the very first meeting. She's this mysterious flower who shelters herself with her icy thorns. You'd think that her cold attitude towards him in the beginning would have made him back away and leave her be, but it's actually the opposite that happened. Something about her told him that he shouldn't leave her alone. He's not really sure why he felt that way, but he's following his feelings without questioning it.

Though it seems that he didn't even need to make moves towards her, since she seems to appear to places where he is. At the department store and later when he was performing. He's seen that she's sad underneath or cold attitude and that's what's making him more determined that he should be there for her. It's not really in the romantic note just yet, it's just that he's worried about her and wants to be someone she can trust. That's why he's showing her that he's willing to trust her and tries to tell (vaguely, at least) about his feelings on the situation they're. At the same time he's trying to see her true feelings, but he doesn't expect that to happen anytime soon.

While I said that he doesn't hold romantic feelings just yet... well, it's more that he's trying to ignore them. He knows that if he'd say something like that to her it might push her further away and that would ruin everything that has been built. So he's taking a more careful approach on it. The more he gets to see her different sides of her, the more he feels like she could be someone he'd want to stay at her side. At least as a friend for now.

Though yes, he's nice to other women even while she's around, since that's just how he rolls. It's also kind of a way to not let his extra feelings show to her so she wouldn't get suspicious. When they're alone he acts casually and really tones his flirting down, since she doesn't really respond. I believe he's tried and been shot down several times.

tl;dr
Utau is important for him and for some reason, even mystery to him, he feels like he shouldn't let her be alone. He's used to her cold and accepts it as part of her, even if he wishes she'd show more of her other sides. There may also be some deeper feelings hidden.

Despite that he doesn't want to leave her alone, he's trying to get out of Team Rocket one day... but that's not right now. Then again, it might be for the best if they gain some distance, because Ren lives a dangerous life (in his opinion, at least).
