As for the question... I meant why'd she pick that name. -snickers-

But in that case! The line she gives in canon is "My parents died. I had to be strong for Serah, so I thought I needed to forget my past. And I became Lightning." So basically she was trying to throw off any childhood she had left and become the adult in the house to protect her sister...though given that she was fifteen at the time it didn't work out quite so well.
As for why she chose that name and not something like...Fishbird, we're not really told. I headcanon that it's because she saw a storm and how powerful it could be, and she figured that if she was that powerful nothing would happen to her sister. Hence the name choice.
also fishbird is a terrible nameno subject
But she'd make such an elegant fishbird! So a storm huh? Makes sense, on reflection. Does she have any nicknames she's given other people? Even if she never uses them out loud.

maybe a fishbird mermaid or something--/has too many ausNope. Light calls everyone by their actual names. The only thing that could qualify as a "nickname" is her calling Ven by Ven and not Ventus, but that's it. She's never really seen the point to nicknames...despite living with one for the past near eight years according to how mine's aged.

With pretty swordfish weapons?Okay yes there's some serious irony in that. Did she enjoy the military?

with pretty swordfish and starfish weapons. Thunder spells underwater=baaaaddd idea.I wouldn't say enjoy, actually. The skills she learned were useful, yes, but it was really just a means to an end to keep Serah safe. If there had been some other option, she probably would have taken that, too.

But that's her best option! So there wasn't any part she really liked huh?

if she wants to fry herself at the same time. >> she could use them on sea birds for lunch though. Not really, no. The learning how to use a gunblade was pretty cool, but in terms of actually liking it? Not particularly.

Maybe she's a breed of mermaid that's electricity resistant...She have any moments where she wished her weapon of choice back then was something else?

...that would actually work best. /files ideas away.Nope. Considering how her gunblade shifts, she's probably had training in both firearms and swordwork. The Gunblade is just the best of both worlds.

Some offshoot of electric eel?Well, I think I'm out of questions at the moment then!
