Headcanon Meme!

✭ A HEADCANON/QUESTIONS MEME ✭
Because Plurk is down and everything is terrible.

→ Post with a list of your characters.
→ Comment to other people asking them questions about their lineup. Ask anything you can think of: questions about personal headcanon, thoughts on your CR, hypothetical situations, off-screen interactions, future plans, serious business, random crack, whatever!
→ Respond to the questions you receive!
→ LEARN NEW THINGS ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE'S CHARACTERS THAT YOU NEVER KNEW BEFORE.
→ Repeat steps 2-4 forever.
Holy Voltorbs.

If Carmen could have any one item from home brought to Johto, what would it be? (Assume Johto restrictions apply - something that can be carried by either the person or the person's Pokémon; no magic, weapons, modes of transportation, or magical weaponry that can serve as a mode of transportation.)

And along those lines, if all of your characters could bring one person from home to go on a Pokémon Journey with them, who would it be?

For both questions, the unspoken "why" is optional but would be appreciated if you would like to provide it.

DAMN THOSE JOHTO RESTRICTIONS. This question would be 100x easier if that "modes of transportation" exception weren't on there, because what she wants most in life is her jetpack hang-glider. IT'S ALL SHE WANTS IN THE WORLD, OKAY.

Barring that, though? As absurd as this might sound, Carmen...actually isn't a particularly materialistic person; she doesn't really have a lot of significant possessions, and the ones she does, she mostly already has with her because they never leave her person (her Orphan Plot Trinket locket, her old ID from ACME, her wrist-mounted powered grappling hook). Pretty much the only exception to this is her netsuke, which was given to her by her old partner/mentor when she was seventeen and which she kept for ten years before surrendering it as a clue to help coax him out of a depression and back into the crime-busting business — long story. So I think she'd really like to have that back, because that was one of the few gifts anybody's ever actually given her, and she willingly gave it up for the greater good, but...well, I mean. If you want subtly super depressing, look at the bookshelf in Carmen's room back home — there's literally nothing on it. She just has empty shelves in her room because she doesn't have any particularly significant personal possessions to even put on them.

So probably her netsuke, or possibly the Hope Diamond because she literally steals that fucking thing four times over the course of canon, it's practically hers anyway.

As for the second question...if by "person" I can also say "AI", then she'd probably bring the Chief. She misses him a lot and it'd be nice to spend some time with him in a world where their history is sort of left behind and suspended, and her being a criminal doesn't matter as much anymore. (Her lingering fondness for him, incidentally, is why she named her starter after him.) And if not the Chief, then probably Suhara, because she'd want him to meet her boyfriend acquaintances and see how they've changed her and that maybe she really is going to come back around and go straight again, after all. That'd be important to her for both of them, honestly, because Chief and Suhara are basically the closest thing she has to family, and she recognizes that Coop's influence in particular has changed her enough that she's becoming a person they'd be proud of again, all redemption arc and so on and so forth. Also they need to give Obligatory Family Approval of her boyfrando.

And ruling those two out, she'd want Zack the Not-Porygon, because he'd love it in Johto and traditionally Zack is the one of the two detectives who's willing to give Carmen more of a pass on the whole OMFG GOTTA BRING HER IN GARFARBLE CRIMINAL thing, versus Ivy who isn't as lenient about chasing her down and bringing her in. Also he'd get along really well with Hiccup. And really he's just kind of...look, she really likes Ivy but Zack is the favorite, okay, that's just how it is.

She actually had a really hard time on Christmas because she never gets anything for Christmas (and coincidentally, no one remembers her birthday — in her birthday episode, she actually goes around stealing famous historical gifts like the Faberge eggs and stuff in order to provoke ACME into checking her dossier to figure out that it is her birthday in the first place) and presents in general are just kind of really foreign to her because it implies that people care and she's so independent and so without people on that kind of level that she's just not used to it. So along came Christmas and all these people got her stuff and most of it was really touching and she was actually really emotionally overwhelmed because she didn't know how to handle it.

Suffice to say Kimblee's pocketwatch is included among these Really Important Items of hers and she will basically surrender it over her dead body — and would've felt the same way even before he told her what the significance of it was. Gifts are a REALLY BIG DEAL. She's completely down with handing them out like candy, but getting them is a completely different story for her because nobody ever thinks of her like that. :(

(Also she might have a repeat of Christmas again in about two weeks when her birthday rolls around; we'll see.)

And yes, it is, actually. Apparently she lives in some kind of fucking castle fortress thing and has a REALLY SWAG BED.
