A Wild Headcanon Meme Appears!
Because there's never a wrong time for headcanon.
→ Post with a list of your characters.
→ Comment to other people asking them questions about their lineup. Ask anything you can think of: questions about personal headcanon, thoughts on your CR, hypothetical situations, off-screen interactions, future plans, serious business, random crack, whatever!
→ Respond to the questions you receive!
→ LEARN NEW THINGS ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE'S CHARACTERS THAT YOU NEVER KNEW BEFORE.
→ Discover things your characters have in common and forge excellent CR and shenanigans accordingly.
→ Repeat steps 2-5 forever.

For the record, I am unsure if this particular question is answered in canon, so... yeah, this might vary WIDELY.
How I see it going down is thus: Reno's been working for the Turks for a little bit, and Rude may have already been working or have joined just a bit after (knee-jerk reaction is to say he joined after). The redhead is obviously good at what he does, because otherwise he would've been ejected from the Turks after the first mission. But, the only thing is that he's reckless and tends to cause collateral damage, as well as endangering himself unnecessarily. Granted, he usually does it so there's little to no danger to the partner he might be working with. However, that's not really how a partnership works. So, Veld compares notes on how both Rude and Reno work and decides to throw them into a mission together.
This goes TERRIBLY.
It's amusing to me to imagine Reno not getting along with the very stoic Rude at all at first. He's a free-spirited kind of guy, and someone so reserved would probably annoy the crap out of him. He'd see Rude as a babysitter, since Rude is cautious and would warn him not to get carried away, and he'd resent that intensely. There were probably a few strong words he threw in Veld's direction after the first few missions where he's continually paired with Rude. Naturally, Veld would just tell him to deal with it, because he needed to learn how to work with a partner, and Rude wasn't going anywhere.
Eventually, I think there'd be a breaking point. Maybe some kind of sniper/long haul mission that required a vast amount of waiting. Reno would be chomping at the bit to get started, but I feel like Rude would be trying to temper him. The redhead would probably make some rash decision that involves him almost getting killed— except Rude's cool head saves him. From then, it would be grudging respect, and ultimately, he'd learn to understand and appreciate his partner's temperament.
(....As for the sunglasses, Rude might've expressed displeasure in the beginning, but by now, I think he's used to the fact that Reno's a whirlwind of destruction and his sunglasses are usually a victim of it. Amusingly enough, I can see him keeping a tally of every destroyed one and asking Reno to pay for them at the end of the month/year, haha.)
