...Good question. Chances are he'd be boring and choose a photo album of his family because he misses them a lot and would want something to remember them by (even though they for some reason never were mentioned again after the first chapter).

Or an extra hoodie in case his current one goes up in flames courtesy of his Growlithe is somehow ruined.

it really is. I'm guessing they had to keep things a bit more concise and not bring it up since he can't do anything about it and constant worrying would've gotten old but a mention or two would've been nice.

What was his childhood like, and how did he get on in school before showing up at Despair Academy over there?

YOU GOT THAT WRONG

Naegi's childhood wasn't anything remarkable, really. His parents took good care of him, though his father sometimes worked late hours. He spent a lot of time playing in the backyard with the family dog or with his little sister. He's always tried to be a good big brother to her though sometimes they have their fights. I like to think that they had to share their video games which resulted in a lot of Pokémon save files getting overwritten.

Naegi's ambivalent about school. Sometimes it's fun and interesting, sometimes he just falls asleep in class if he gets bored. He prefers the after-school club activities and hanging out with his friends over sitting in the classroom. His grades are...nothing spectacular but they're not bad, either. They range from slightly below average to slightly above average.

However! Since CR thoughts are fair game for the meme and spending time with friends was mentioned and I should never be allowed to ask questions because ahahaha what is shutting the hell up man I'm sorry, what are his thoughts so far with regards to his classmates in Johto? (I mean, I imagine being the one to drop the spoiler bomb was not exactly his idea of a good time, but in general.)

Naegi is the cutest protag, not even gonna lie here.

YEAH THAT was all sorts of oh god why do I have to explain all these shitty things but at the same time it's their right to know if they want to know so Naegi can't just shut up or lie to them. But aside from that he's just...really really glad to have them around because they deserve a second shot at life and them being here proves that it's in fact possible that everyone can be saved. He wants everyone to live a happy life in the land of Pokémon, basically.

He's also happy for the chance to get to know them better in a more...normal environment (or as nornal as Johto can be, at least) that doesn't put them at risk of getting murdered. The whole Team Rocket thing worries him but at least it's better than dead classmates.

Well, understandably so, as arguably anything is better than dead classmates - and at least he won't have to field too many hideous questions regarding what happened in Hope's Peak from Ishimaru's direction, as he figures that anything further than what he's already been given will just result in tableflip and he does not want to go there or get to that point. So the most Naegi really has to worry about at this point is...well. God help everybody if he finds a sauna.

Ishimaru should find a sauna, if you ask me. The results would be hilarious.

...Naegi would end up sitting on the sauna floor or something after ten minutes since the higher up you sit, the hotter you'll get.

Honestly, finding a sauna in Johto would pretty much make his year, if for no better reason than there has been not nearly enough naked socializing here.

And Naegi has managed to dodge the LET ME SEE YOUR NAKED BODY NAEGI-KUN bullet these last few times, hasn't he. :|a Clearly the SHSL Good Luck can't hold out forever on that front.
