dreamsofahero: (I come in peace)

(no subject)

Since the subject came up in a thread and I'm curious,

What Magic: the Gathering colors are your characters?

Not familiar with M:tG? No problem! Aside from the helpful links above, here's a quick lowdown:

White is the color associated with law and order, protection and peace. Angels and your stereotypical paladin-type characters would be White.

Green is the color of nature, the essence and strength of life, instinct and growth. Think like druids and shamans, or characters who have an uncanny connection to animals or plants.

Red is the color of fiery passion, freedom and impulsiveness. Red characters would be your typical shounen manga protagonists who like to rush into things headfirst with a lot of enthusiasm but little thought.

Black is the color of death and decay, ambition and darkness. The undead or someone who's ruthlessly self-interested and will go any length to achieve their goal would be Black.

Blue is the color knowledge and logic, as well as manipulation and deception or illusion. Brilliant inventors and scholars, or skilled illusionists and psychics are typically Blue.

....and if all else fails, there's PLENTY of "what color are you?" quizzes turned up by a quick search on google.

So! What colors are your characters? Discuss~

Geddoe is really probably White and Red, when you get down to it. While he's not much for law and order, he's definitely got a strong personal sense of morals and buys into the idea the protecting the weak idea. On the other hand, freedom is probably one of the single most important things to him ever: the biggest reason he dislikes the rune is because it giving him immortality effectively traps him in life without giving him any choice in the matter. That and while it's rarely aroused he does have a temper. And, y'know, True Lightning Rune.

Sion is White for obvious reasons of desiring order and peace and all, and Blue because he's intelligent, cunning, and a skilled liar and manipulator. Also, while it rarely shows, he has a deep streak of Black in him; I could cite various things for this from issues from traumatic childhood/life to occasionally having to make less than savory decisions as king, but really what it comes down to is that you just can't go and make a deal with a demon to obtain the powers of a god of destruction in order to take over the kingdom without having some black in you okay, no matter HOW relatively pure your motives are. >_>

...seriously though Sion is just... ahaha yeah COMPLICATED in canon, so.

Representing for Red/Blue in all its paradoxical glory, Miss Carmen Sandiego:

Red/Blue is a thinking guild, but unlike other guilds with a Blue element, Red/Blue embraces the tools of emotion. They think, but they think passionately. Their emotion allows them to leap to ideas and thoughts that their logical cousins would never encounter. They find rationality in the heart of irrationality. They make intuitive leaps. They slay sacred cows. They connect things that no one else would think to connect. In short, they embrace creativity.

You see, creativity mixes elements of logic and emotion. It finds connections in things that most people wouldn't have given a second look. But Red/Blue lives to find those connections. To them, life is about seeking knowledge and freedom. And how better than by examining the knowledge that no one else will explore. Thinking things that no one else would dare think. They search for the knowledge that cannot rationally be discovered.

In addition, the two colors find that they have some similar tools. For example, both colors enjoy messing with the opponent. Blue tends to do it more out of trickiness while Red does it out of playfulness, but in the end, Blue and Red are the two colors that most mess with other players' spells. Red/Blue is tricky/playful and creative. As you will see, this is a potent combination.

Apparently this puts her in the company of Indiana Jones, which, um, yeah.

It's funny because my original inclination was Green, not because of any particular significance of nature or growth but because in my limited experience, Green is the deck that plays with absolutely no subtlety.

Much like Carmen.

[personal profile] for_realsies 2013-07-24 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Green lacks subtle, but it isn't Carmen's lack of subtle. Because Green's unsubtle is mindless, and Carmen's unsubtle is that she feels she's better than you, your laws, and your wit. Hence the whole game to catch her.

Izzet Colors are very her.

Well, in fairness, the woman once decided she loved American history so much that she'd go back in time to steal a bunch of significant pieces of it for herself before they actually became significant pieces of it, thus semi-irrevocably changing history in ways including but not limited to disrupting the discovery of electricity while herself stuck in the past via means that required electricity itself to run.

Also she once decided to summon aliens by collecting a bunch of alien-related spooky landmarks, dropping them in the midst of the Australian outback, and...waiting, apparently.

And she thought she could make fine art by stealing key components of already famous artwork (Van Gogh's eyes, a Picasso nose, and the Mona Lisa's smile) and just sort of...shoving them together...on a canvas...to "create a masterpiece" of her own...yeah.

So I wouldn't say that she's necessarily mindless, and you could probably attribute some of those to Red's emotion-driven thing, too, but there is really no denying she does have her moments of inexplicably flagrant stupidity.

That's way more "She failed to think things through" which is very much a joke of the Izzet (Read a random sampling of Izzet flavortext and you'll see this as a trend, that and MORE POWER). That they push the envelope so much because they want to, and are too impatient to really think through the end point of their plan.

She is a cartoony evil genius, which means she can't have flawless plans, but the attempt to plan is very much... Izzet. Plus Green is slave to nature and destiny (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), while red is FREEDOM!

Ryner is Blue. Just. End of story. If he were to actually play, he'd probably mix it with White and run a mill/stall deck, but he himself is pure Blue.

of course given my personal opinion that Ferris would likely be White that is kind of appropriate because they're at their best when they're working together but I digress...

Meanwhile, his Alpha Stigma is Black splashing Red. Because it wants destruction of everything and is quite passionate about that.

Twilight is Blue/White with a heavy emphasis on the blue. If she were a deck she'd be 70% blue and 30% white.

Buuuut it's almost entirely in the "knowledge and logic" part of the sphere. She's not all that good at manipulation or deception. Illusion she can do though.

Ilya is mostly Red, as she's highly impulsive and passionate, but she has a nice dose of Blue manipulativeness and cunning in there too, as well as Black ruthlessness. Despite her color scheme, she has almost no White.

Apollo is White/Green, with a good splash of Red. He sees all life as having equal value and wants to avoid any killing or violence that isn't for survival or the protection of life. He follows his instincts and accepts the instincts of others, but looks ahead at the big picture and tries to make changes that will ensure that one person's instincts won't cause problems, in some cases even going so far as to eliminate someone whose instincts will cause others harm, such as the gluttonous deer he killed. He's also emotional and passionate, can get really angry, and will do reckless things if something or someone offends his beliefs or the peaceful natural order is disrupted. Those who have seen his reaction to mistreatment of Pokémon or nature have seen that red streak. Cobra Commander experienced it firsthand.

Domri is Red/Green of course: driven by emotion and animal instincts, living in the here and now, acting in the moment, unsubtle, doesn't hold back, unpredictable, and assumes he'll always find a way to fit that square peg into that round hole.

According to a quiz (because I have no understanding of M:tG) Keiko would be Blue/White. Which actually makes a lot of sense, though I think she'd be primarily White not using her intelligence to ever actually do harm and such. She just isn't good at the manipulation/deception part of blue.

Imogen... varies by season as her character shifts and twists with her surroundings. Primarily she's BLUE but for Season 11 she was BLUE/BLACK (Dimir), and Season 12 she's BLUE/RED (Not Izzet). Season 13 (so far) is still BLUE/RED with that childish innocence of her's to be whatever she thinks she can be.

Season 11 Imogen was introduced as a wild carefree spirit, but after a few interactions it was clear she was playing a part to not only gain the eye of a boy, but eventually his ear and confidences. Twisting and changing him so he was more likely to take a romantic interest in her, and poisoning his every thought of the girl he used to love. Trying to mold him into her perfect boyfriend.

Imogen was not a nice person when introduced.

Season 12 Imogen softened, her antics and crazy lost that malicious edge of self-indulgence that made her identity far more black than any other slice of the color pie. She became focused on creativity and freedom, being herself and bending to the will of nobody she didn't respect. Not following the rules and controls of society was just a form of her self-expression.

But, overall Imogen is creativity and illusion, with just a hint of manipulation to her name.

The test said Carol's Red/Blue, which I think fits pretty well. She's very passionate and DEFINITELY likes punching things, but she can also be cool and calculating when the occasion requires (having spent many years in espionage)
ardent: (Is an art that's hard to teach)

Ishimaru, as Dangan Ronpa's resident Lawful Moron, is White; most of his goals are driven toward the protection of the group as a whole and generally making things better for everyone, even before the Hope's Peak incident, and apparently whomever put the character profiles at the start of the game together felt the need to state that he values law and order above all things. So...yeah.

Kimblee is a Black/Blue split; he's completely amoral and has no qualms about destroying anyone or anything that gets in the way of what he wants to do, but his goals have a heavy slant toward changing the world to favor those who deserve it and he's most successful when he relies on manipulation, deceit and espionage rather than flat-out brute force. He's also incredibly methodical when he wants to be, and incredibly...uh, "destructive as fuck" when he doesn't want to be; it's more Black that's heavily influenced by Blue if nothing else.

Lee is Blue, Jin is Red, and I think Shaun is too young to be affiliated yet, but he could grow up to be White.

Neji's obviously Blue with a splash of White.

If you don't think he's blue, then you don't remember the twenty episodes of Talk no Jutsu in the Chuunin arc.
