Leon is cool. Walter's learned his way around a lot of the "modern" world thus far, and he can hold everyday conversations without feeling lost or losing things in translation, but there's still a big gulf when it comes to getting close to people. Leon is the person with whom that gulf is the shortest, not counting people from cultural backgrounds more like Walter's - so many things still mystify him about Leon's worldview and experiences and general state of existence, but they've talked freely about some really heavy stuff, and after that the cultural differences don't seem quite as important.
Which isn't to say it's not still an obstacle; there's some things Walter wouldn't talk about with Leon because he gets the feeling Leon simply wouldn't understand on a fundamental level. (Mostly military-type things. Shooting people and feeding your spirit to demons and whatnot, y'know.) But he's glad he stumbled across someone he can do some mutual unloading with on such fantastic and heartening topics as being dead (or so he thinks). He still shakes his head at some things about Leon, and...he's honestly not completely sure whether they could have a normal hang-out without minor personality conflicts getting in the way, but he definitely trusts him with realtalk and tries to be trustworthy and receptive to the same.

...long story short, she has a perfect storm of traits that Walter is critically weak to as far as sheer admiration goes; the shrewdness, the breadth of knowledge, the initiative and creativity and sense of independence, so on and so forth. Before even interacting with her, he looks at her posts and reads that command of information as power. With knowledge and wisdom you gain the power to move the world about you yadda yadda etc.
He doesn't have a history of running to adults for guidance, so his view of her as someone superior to him is all about her intelligence and ability. He is very grateful to her for giving him a place to start with the literacy thing, and kind of...in awe of her for existing in general, and pretty much would trust anything she says, informational or otherwise, because WOW EDUCATED AS HELL AND VAGUELY SUBVERSIVE.
ON KIRIGIRI he's kind of cautiously respectful. Again, he's critically admiration-weak to people who sound like they know what they're doing - but in his incredibly fair and in no way biased mind, people who didn't answer that morality test with chaotic tendencies do not know what they are doing and cannot be trusted. That conviction is easing the more time he spends in-game, but he remembers he has a mild grudge for some reason, so he's paying close attention to mystery text person whenever he sees them on his posts, trying to figure out...who they are in general. So far he knows they have a habit of coming into his questionposts and pushing their own questions back at him, which aggravated him to no end at first but was actually pretty interesting the last time, so he's slowly revising what opinion he has.

Of course, he's easing up about that over time; he's seen this whole...thing on the network lately and wonders what the hell is going on with the guy, but doesn't feel close enough to up and ask. I should have tagged that last post but it got stuck in a slow patch for me and for that I apologize.
ON ALFRED he still thinks you're a great person to just bitch at but he'd probably have to eviscerate himself if he had to be actual friends with you.
ON KIMBLEE hold on giving you a separate comment for this. Not because it's particularly long, I just have to stop laughing long enough to write it.

MY GOD THAT WAS A TRAVESTY
He doesn't even know who the guy is. All he knows is he sang sweet chaos and Walter cannot not get behind that. He also realized after listening to him that hunting down "Seth" on moral grounds would make him a huge fucking hypocrite and hey if he has to let a crazy pot-stirring bomber go free so as not to violate his life philosophy and undermine his self-concept then so be it.
...which of course sparks some self-examination by Walter himself, to the tune of "wow I am probably a giant piece of shit actually." But thanks to "Seth" and people like him, he wonders if it is really all that bad. That maybe...he's okay with being a giant piece of shit.
And I think that's beautiful.
