...But seriously, her interest in gaining more knowledge and her personality in general make her pleasant to speak with. He's also kinda sorta using her as practice for speaking with young teens in a non-combat situation, because he knows he needs a lot of it.

Cecil finds John nice and interesting to speak with, even though he doesn't quite get why anyone would want so many ghosts in their team. And he still find that whole family explanation more than a little confusing. The whole being there for so long thing is a bonus, especially as months go by and people disappear.

Also, those wind powers when they were fighting against the dark thing he has trouble recalling? V. v. cool.

Ash likes Blake well enough, partially because there are so few adults around and partially because he finds their conversation pleasant and mostly sane. He's learning to appreciate mostly sane. Besides, he can respect all the thankless work and effort that comes with being a cop.

Blake is also very very high on his list of People Who Shall Not Hear All The Details About Work And Home Ever, because he's kinda worried that the whole pirate/deserter/deadbeat dad thing would look very bad to a police officer. Sorry for all the lying. :(

The adults here gotta stick together. Blake considers Ash a level-headed and trustworthy guy who he has a surprising amount in common with, though he's still doing his best to wrap his head around the space robot pilot thing.

Damn right his job is thankless. You can punch people all day long and nobody ever appreciates it.
