Hi Walter, my bro from the feudal-yet-not-Tokyo.

Walter is the closest friend Leon has outside of the Dangan Ronpa cast. Despite the two of them hailing from very different places and societies, they share quite a couple of similarities. On a superficial level they're both dumb boys who like to look at girls, but on a more serious note they share the 'after-life' status; both have died or at least think they're dead back home. Leon finds that in Walter he has someone who can understand the uncertainty and fear that bothers him coming from post execution. Leon can actually be around Walter and still be himself; he doesn't really have to mince his words or his manners when he brings up his opinions and thoughts on things, and that makes Walter more approachable than any other person.

Of course he finds Walter kinda weird at times. Ignoring the accent Walter can be a little too serious for Leon's level of goofiness at times, and usually over the matters that Leon finds not very significant or important. And then there's the whole America and Ring of Gaea conversation they had so...if Leon were to hang around Walter a lot more, he might pick up more of the differences? The surface level stuff like technology or terminology might prove a source of laughs for Leon but he'd good naturedly teach Walter about them. But Leon hasn't really noted Walter's intense love for all things chaos though so I regard that as a stress test to their friendship.

He's mentioned quite a few things to Walter that makes him one of two people in Johto who know about Leon's secrets. And Leon's actually had more...I guess, philosophical chats with him about life and living after death. It still remains to be seen though if Walter will be a good or positive influence on Leon.

So tl;dr, for a guy he met over the net he thinks Walter is a cool guy and he wouldn't mind spending time with him.
