[It's an awkward situation to be in, and she can't help worrying, especially when none of it makes sense! Why? Why is he all right even with her around? Two years? What is Riku even talking about?]

But that doesn't make sense! How can he be all right if I'm around? And--two years? It's been that long since I--? [Since she what, she doesn't know what to say!] ...What's going on? [Her voice cracks with frustration, her heart's pounding, why is she feeling so much?]

[Okay, this isn't going as well as he'd hoped. Riku pauses to take a few deep breaths, shutting his eyes and rubbing his brow. How to put this...?]

Okay, so... first thing you oughta know is that this world likes to bend the rules a little. People drop in from different points in time, and I'd say Sora's from pretty far into the future.

[...]

...I know that doesn't make a lot of sense, but trust me. You'll be fine.

[Though it's troubling to think of what could've-- probably happened to her, so there might be a slight uneasy edge in his words.]

[faintwaves]

...[She should trust Riku's word, really. Riku was--well, she isn't sure if she can call him a friend, she was the one keeping his best friend asleep after all, why would he want that? But she does regard Riku with respect and safety.]

Is that why...I have a heart? I was feeling so much before and I didn't understand why, but now I can feel it beating and I'm even more confused.

[islandshore]

[Riku's eyes widen, and for a second, he considers asking, "Why wouldn't you have a heart?" But he stops himself, realizing that this may only cause more confusion. And right now, that's the last thing she needs.

So maybe he should keep it simple, ease her into it a little.}

Well, this place makes everyone human. So that heart-- it's real, and it's all yours.

[Though if she needs more clarification, hey, he's happy to oblige.]

[faintwaves]

...All mine.

[Xion is a whole person now.

What is this? Some sort of reward? She doesn't deserve that at all, it's not as though she did anything noble--she was the reason everything was messed up in the first place.]

What am I supposed to do now?

Whatever you want.

[The answer comes without hesitation, all hesitation in his voice completely gone.]

You're in charge of your own destiny, and there's a whole world out there to explore.

[Or, well, two regions of it, but that's still a lot more than Destiny Islands, at any rate.]

[faintwaves]

[A brand new world to explore, of course. As a member of the Organization, she would have been assigned to different worlds for different missions quite a bit...well...if she didn't keep malfunctioning. She remembers going to different worlds when she was able to, seeing new people and helping them, seeing new things.

She still remembers how interesting all of it was, and that she wanted to learn more about all those worlds. Now...?

Xion shakes herself out of her thoughts and looks to the Seel still sitting next to her.]

And, what about this little guy? He doesn't seem like he's going to hurt me. All he does is clap.

[Riku looks down at the Seel and chuckles.]

Just think of him as your partner in crime. Trust me, you're gonna need his help-- this whole world revolves around battling creatures like him.

[Which is probably a big adjustment for her, since she's starting off a square one. No memories, no experience. For all he knows, it could all be daunting for her.]

[faintwaves]

Battling?

[Like how the Organization members had their own underlings to control? So...]

I make him fight other creatures? Why? Are they gonna attack me if I don't?

Self-defense is definitely a part of it. You step into the tall grass, and you'll be facing off with a whole slew of wild Pokémon, and some are more than happy to defend their territory.

[He snatches a Pokéball off his belt.]

But there's a few more incentives. Battles make Pokémon stronger, and if you use one of these, you can capture more Pokémon to add to your team. And trust me, you're gonna want at least six.
