Character Relationships Meme

The Character Relationships Meme!

Because I noticed we haven't had one of these in quite a while. This meme is pretty simple! Just:

1. Post your character(s).

2. Comment to other characters asking what they think of yours right now, and answer anyone who comments to your thread.

3. Lovely CR descriptions for all!

Oh Vincent how you have fooled this child. Billy thinks of Vincent as a genius that's a bit grumpy. He hasn't realised he's being used at all given his whole "I need to see evil to believe evil" Thing going on. Vincent is also one of the few people that he's known that hasn't left yet. He's got a place in the little chicken boy's heart.

Plus Billy looks up to the guy and he hopes to be as smart as him on day. It's going to be a sad day if he figures out the man real intentions. ;;

Nanao~! He's so very glad she's back. He enjoys talking with her, even if they've never actually met in person. And he does feel pretty sad about her separation from her whole team, so if she ever wishes to track them down or obtain new eggs, he'll do everything he can to help her.

The big thing with Roy is that, after the events of the series, he realizes that Isaac was right about the plan that the higher-ups were orchestrating. As a result, he's more willing to work with the guy. But Roy doesn't completely trust him -- after all, he went around killing soldiers who didn't know anything, so he's going to watch out for that.

WOOOOOOOOOO HERE WE GO

Okay, so Carmen actually doesn't have a whole lot on Reese yet, which I think speaks to Reese's tendency to be socially fail something of a stone wall when it comes to interpersonal interaction — which, from what little I've seen of the show, is precisely how he's supposed to be, even if it doesn't necessarily lend itself well to actually getting to know each other.

What she does know (or at least can guess), however, is that Reese is a professional something. For someone like Carmen, who deals with the law-enforcement-y types on a ridiculously regular basis, spotting the signs of an agent is pretty instinctive by now. It's the way he dresses, the way he carries himself, the things he asks, the things he thinks to ask...stuff like that.

Which is a little interesting, I think, because with Carmen in Route there's always this sort of lingering sense of "I know something you don't know" about her, because basically no one recognizes her as the thief she is, and so it's strange to be able to walk up to someone like Reese and just maintain a conversation without someone trying to slap a set of cuffs on her. I also think she can tell he's got a pretty strong personality (even if it's a sort of socially reserved one) and she likes that, in a way, because she's got a pretty overwhelmingly strong one herself. They don't precisely clash, but there's a sort of inherent tension of these two people on equal footing going sort of toe to toe with each other whenever they interact.

And I think that's where Reese tends to be a little different for her than most of the other people she's encountered, because he's not slipping into that rival/friend category the way that Coop does (since she's not prone to be at ease around Reese, even if she is calm around him), but he's also not antagonistic in the way that Sherlock is, and he's not...really trying to be anything to her. He's just sort of there and she's there too and she's still kind of feeling out where to even put him on a relationship level, since he's not the type to give her much with which to gauge how he fits in and where he belongs.

So yeah, I'm finding it really interesting to play off him because I think neither one is particularly aiming to forge any kind of relationship with the other, and yet when they do get together there's this sort of perpetual circling feeling as they mentally size each other up and try to get a read on what that nonexistent relationship should be in the first place. o/

Coop sort of likes Reese! He doesn't know him well enough to have too much of an opinion, but the first impression is that of the kind of person he normally hangs around, which is basically Your Average Kind of Guy Who is Sort Of Weary. He finds him easy enough to talk to, which is always favourable, and totally decent so far, although he hasn't left much of of a memorable impression right now. Could go either way at this point!

Ah, sorry! Been recovering from throwing up the past few days, but Nanao!

Dear, sister! That's what she is to China~ He feels that he can make quite a few connections to her since they've both lived for a long time and Nanao knows his world's history (which saves a lot of explaining to do).

China also admires her strength to go on all these years. If she were to compliment his own, he'd try being humble at first.

WELLP LATE

Anyway! Tulio's a big fan of Envy now. c: Not only because of the steady CR building but esepcially in light of Nanao's disappearance, which was an eye-opener for him since he hasn't had people he cares about disappearing before. He's scared now that Envy'll go and determined to do what it takes to keep him around if he can. And he really is part of the group now - Tulio trusts Envy and values his input, not to mention his skill. And though they might clash at times it's not anything that makes Tulio angry anymore, it's just the same kind of disagreements he normally has with Miguel.
Tulio's out of the PARTNER think for the most part, even! I mean, Miguel will always be special, but he considers them a group now and not him and Miguel PLUS Envy. It's the three of them and they're both important to him. Moreover, they make a pretty good team.
Not to mention that Envy is the first friend he made for years, so he's special, too. c:

SUP PARTNER

Honestly he's more attached to Miguel than EVER these days, because of Nanao disappearing. It really opened his eyes towards the whole ".. :C oh my god my BFF might go too." And he's REALLY anxious about it even if he tries not to think about it too hard, so he just really wants to keep Miguel close at all times and make sure he doesn't leave him ever.
Not to mention that he just really honestly loves Miguel and now he's going to try to show it more, in his typical not-actually-saying-it ways, because ... yeah, he might disappear. And if he did it'd pretty much end Tulio. So he's just going to cling to him a lot until he starts to forget about the disaster that is disappearances again.
BEST FRIEND FOR LIFE. ;; PLEASE TO NOT GO.

Oh none at all, whatsoever. also WHOOPS LATE.

But Cooper is definitely liking Carmen so far. I've said it before but she really is the kind of woman he used to be very attracted to, and though he himself isn't recognising it quite as such he's just basically having a lot of fun with their conversations. It's exciting for him to find someone who seems to have his sense of humour but who can also keep up with his ~detective thinking~ as well as his spiritual and philosophical nature -- but then there's also her challenging him with the postcard, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Not to mention that the information she recently gave him is making her climb the list of people he can depend on and trust, since she really does seem to hold her word. While the whole audio-only thing has made him both more intrigued and curious about her it's also a little something to find suspicious, so while he definitely doesn't trust her fully he thinks that he will, in time.
Basically he just really likes her. She's similar to him in many ways and he can tell, and we're always drawn to people who are like us.
So yep, I agree, their first meeting is going to be gold. c:
tapestodiane: ((art) thumbs up)

[personal profile] tapestodiane 2012-04-03 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Cooper likes China, as per usual! Not much has changed between them - they're on friendly terms and he's one of the people Cooper's known the longest, so he always likes hearing from him. Still feels he should keep a bit of an eye on him given his penchant for getting into trouble, but on the whole they're just pretty good friends and there's not a lot more to add to that. c:

Tulio likes China too, mostly because he's just ... genuinely kind to him. He's one of the people who helped him realize that not everyone has an angle. And he's happy China hasn't disappeared, especially now after Nanao did when he realizes that that can really happen. He doesn't consider Yao a friend or anything, but he's more than okay with talking to him and he wouldn't steal from him or trick him.

tapestodiane: (hai guys what's going on in this thread)

[personal profile] tapestodiane 2012-04-03 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Coop likes Nanao! She's friendly and easy to talk to, and that's all he asks for in people. He doesn't consider her particularly close, though, but more like the next-door neighbor, you know? You know them and talk to them and hang out sometimes but you're not very close. So basically they should meet properly and chat things up.

TULIO .......... is so confused. 8( like, you have no idea how much of a confused puppy he is. He likes her. He really does. He's developed his share of affection and friendliness for her and he likes talking to her, because she's not afraid to bite back when he teases. But now he's not 100% sure how to approach her now when he knows she LOVES him - because that's such a big word. Does that change things? He thinks they should, right? But what kind of changes and how is he supposed to go about them?
Not to mention that he doesn't really know what HE feels in return, because he's bad with feels like that. Basically he really DOES like her but he's not sure what's going to happen between them. It's a bit cliché-sounding but he doesn't want to lose someone he does consider pretty-much-a-friend, because it'd be so awkward and weird and probably his fault (since he does seem to set her off, HE HAS NOT FORGOTTEN THOSE TIMES) and he'd feel really bad, but he doesn't want to go into a notion of romance and what that might be either, because he's kind of weirded out by it all. Romance isn't a THING in the middle ages, you know? You're set up with people or marry for convenience. Romance has little to do with it. And he sort of left home when he was really young and has no clue what all that means anyway.
so. yeah. THINGS.

You summed up the kind-of-flirting thing SO WELL there, just want to point that out. I think with Coop he does this kind of semi-flirting thing with people to both put them at ease (because you can get the job done a lot quicker if people like you) and to keep them on their toes just a little bit, ESPECIALLY in Johto where he gets to indulge in his playful side a lot more than he does in canon. It's a quick way of striking up a connection to work on - but yeah, it's easy to get serious. And the fun part with Carmen for Coop is exactly that, that she throws it back at him so easily but understands immediately when to drop it and discuss serious matters.
They're just really similar like that and it's a lot of fun.

ALSO re: Coop and Yagyuu I had no idea that him having Phantom's daughter was a special thing! And it makes me aaw a little. Because yeah, they're not exactly friends, but I like that there seems to be a mutual respect behind the intelligent discussions they've got so far and I'm enjoying it. c:

DEFINITELY NOT and sorry this is late life happened

BUT YES Reese definitely finds Carmen...intriguing, to say the least. Back home, there was a woman named Zoe who went around and "fixed" things like scandals and such for money, and she had quite the interesting personality- she could go and diffuse a situation with a few placed words and an offer. Carmen does remind him of Zoe a bit, but in a way, she's more mysterious and the questions she asks do make him wonder what kind of woman she is.

Of course, him being her friend is out of the question right now, because Reese is a paranoid guy and unlikely to let himself get too close to a person, but he finds something very familiar in her that he keeps getting drawn to. So, he'll won't shy away from her like he does with most people, but at the same time, he's not sure if the relationship he has right now is good or bad. They've been both politely friendly with one another, but other than that, their relationship isn't a good or a bad one. It's just...neutral, and that's what Reese is finding so interesting, because usually he gets one or the other out of people. He'll definitely keep a close eye on her, and we'll see how things progress later on, for sure. :3c

Friendly! Reese gets a positive feeling from Cooper. It's not too positive as to make Reese drop everything and be his buddy, but he won't mind talking to the guy if he has to. He's also amusing, which Reese likes.

He needs to talk to Cooper more to get a more decent impression, but at the moment he kind of likes him! Which is good, you don't want Reese to hate you because that would be bad.

He thinks Vincent is weird and a little creepy (even though he's never actually done anything wrong that he's seen), and he doesn't really trust him. At the same time, though, he DID try to help Heather, so he's not entirely sure WHAT to think.
