Character Relationships Meme

The Character Relationships Meme!

Because I noticed we haven't had one of these in quite a while. This meme is pretty simple! Just:

1. Post your character(s).

2. Comment to other characters asking what they think of yours right now, and answer anyone who comments to your thread.

3. Lovely CR descriptions for all!

TO GET THE RELATIVELY SHORT ONE OUT OF THE WAY FIRST:

Descole on Archer: Archer is a bro, if for no better reason than he understands and plays The Flattery Game very, very well. He has no idea that Archer is getting involved in anon Rocket shenanigans, nor is he too sure what he thinks of said shenanigans; at the same time, he doesn't know what the hell caused the recent rampages, either, as they look completely and utterly random - basically, holy hell who provoked you people and can he take their cattle prod away? - so he won't exactly move to interfere until he knows what's going on, and he won't really judge anyone involved because he can't really be bothered to do anything about it. But! On a personal level, Archer is a bro and stupid things need to happen, damn it.

Kimblee on Isaac: Well, first of all, Kimblee is rather fond of Isaac; a good amount of his fondness stems from the fact that Isaac is actually rather unpredictable, given the completely insane degrees of improvisation he's capable of combined with the fact that Isaac doesn't tend to process things in ways that most people would. This is a highly desirable trait, as far as Kimblee is concerned; it keeps things interesting at least, and makes things fun at best. Conversations with Isaac tend to be chill, but in a way Kimblee can appreciate; they're relaxing without being boring, and if all else fails Kimblee knows how to troll Isaac and instigate something if he runs out of things to say (inherent susceptibility to trolling is also a highly desirable trait, in Kimblee's opinion, though for a different reason entirely). Spending time with Isaac is something that Kimblee has come to genuinely enjoy, though he wasn't sure if he would at first or not.

He also definitely appreciates that Isaac will stand by his convictions, regardless of opposition; that's something that Kimblee has always respected in others, and in some way when Isaac came to..."visit" him in Central, he was pleased that that much hasn't changed any. He didn't agree with what Isaac was trying to do and found the whole one-man rampage thing to be completely stupid, but he could definitely respect Isaac for doing it in the first place. Honestly, he's kind of fascinated with the fact that Isaac is so shy in conversation, yet when it comes to getting things done, his balls are apparently dense enough to have their own gravitational field; he finds it kind of endearing, in a completely stupid sort of way.

He's not sure what to do with Isaac's...weird protective tendencies over him (throwing Kimblee's Gear in the lake so he'll be left alone, telling him that if something's bothering Kimblee, it's bothering Isaac as well, things like that), but he generally just sort of shrugs those off, as Isaac is a bit of an oddball and he tends to accept oddball tendencies a bit more easily than most if they're from people who are naturally a bit strange; were Isaac completely normal, Kimblee would be pushing for some sort of explanation, but because Isaac is pinging him as a bit...odd, Kimblee is more than willing to let it go for now as something that will be explained eventually.

He is flattered by Isaac telling him exactly how much their conversations in Ishval meant to him; between that and the fact that Isaac is imitating him in several ways, it's plain that what Kimblee was trying to do in Ishval actually worked for Isaac. That's something that he hadn't realized before coming to Johto, and Kimblee is actually rather pleased to see that; despite their falling-out in Central, Isaac still seems willing to accept Kimblee as a mentor figure, which also pleases him to no end. As such, he's perfectly willing to pick up the senior/junior dynamic again; he admittedly does show off for Isaac a bit as the Pokémon are concerned (one can't look bad in front of their juniors, after all) and he does take some sense of personal pride in Isaac's victories as well - not credit for it, because anything Isaac gains is through his own merit, but it pleases him just the same.

tl;dr HE IS FOND OF YOU BUT YOU CRAZY, BOY, ALSO POSSIBLY DUMB.

Kimblee on Archer: So! Back in the day, when Rockets still showed up in Mahogany Town and the plains ran dark with buffalo, Kimblee decided that he seriously hated Archer's face. (To be fair, he hated the rest of him as well, but he found Archer's face to be particularly offensive to his aesthetic sensibilities.) He agreed to join up with him partially because for quite some time he and Archer were the only people there, and even after Gorthan joined them, he didn't care for Gorthan too much; it would benefit him more to ally himself with Archer than to drive a rift between them. He also didn't see a reason not to - Archer did pose a good point regarding the training, and some companionship, however annoying, was better than none at all. He had every intention of ditching Archer as soon as he was given actual orders from the organization, however.

...unnnnnfortunately orders didn't come for practically forever, and this meant Kimblee got to spend the first half of winter in the frozen fucking wasteland that was the area near the Lake of Rage with Archer as his only semi-tolerable company.

He isn't entirely sure when things shifted over, but it was sometime between the transfer to Goldenrod and the time they arrived in Violet that he started to actually...want to keep Archer around; he generally just tries to ignore that part of their arrangement in favor of focusing on other things, such as the fact that Archer is a good source of orders, and he gives Kimblee things to do and offers him some sort of guidance so he's not just wandering around aimless and getting frustrated with things, and taking out said frustration on everyone around. He more or less keeps Kimblee centered and prevents him from going completely off the rails, but at the same time lets him go out and have fun once in a while; Archer understands him in ways that were pretty much limited to the Homunculi before now, and that's...a good thing, given that at his current canon point Kimblee is disillusioned (and in some ways, incredibly angry) with most of the Homunculi.

He's not devoted to Archer in the same way that Archer is to him, as he won't ever willingly decide to put Archer's life before his; however, he's given Archer his loyalty, and when he decides to do that, said loyalty comes before everything else. He will fight for you, and he will carry out any orders that he's given to the best of his ability; if ordered to defend at all costs, including potential or probable loss of life, he'll do it. He doesn't do it often, but if he's willing to put his trust and faith in someone else, then he does so completely; he was willing to sell out his own entire species for the last set he did this for.

He doesn't think Archer realizes exactly to what extent this sort of loyalty goes, but it doesn't really matter to him whether Archer understands or not - the point is that he'll do whatever he's asked anyway, and if he isn't asked, then he'll do what he thinks is required. Hence very aggressive..."therapy" sessions.

tl;dr - ...uh, this about sums it up, I think.

Have I mentioned I love your TL;DR? It's beautiful.

Okay, first of all! I'm definitely down for more stupid things with Descole and Archer! I'd love for them to get to know one another better since they actually do get along, and Archer's positive CR is limited to uh... Kimblee and Sheska tbh. (Though he gets along okay with Hughes.) I'd love to see where the two of them go!

OH COME ON ISAAC IS NOT DUMB >:| well maybe a little. Point is, this gave me all the feels, okay. KIMBLEE YOU ARE THE BEST SENIOR. I can't wait to play out what we have planned for them~ It's going to be a trainwreck and said trainwreck will somehow or other be beautiful or something. I lost the metaphor, but I think you know what I mean.

OH MY GOD I HAVEN'T SEEN THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR THIS BEFORE AND NOW I'M DYING. THIS IS PERFECT. BEST SUMMATION EVER TBH. Archer and Kimblee's relationship is definitely one of the best I've ever played out. You know I like my ships, but bromances are quickly becoming one of the best things ever for me. THIS IS WHY. I want more bromances like this in my life.

YOU'RE FLAWLESS AND THESE RELATIONSHIPS ARE FLAWLESS AND THIS TL;DR HAS MADE MY NIGHT. ♥
