Botan thinks Gon is a sweet kid and it's super cute how happy he and Killua make each other. They're both very important to her and she has actually started referring to them as their little brothers, she asked Killua if that was okay first because she wanted to be sure that it would be right and she wouldn't be offending them. She also thinks, vaguely, that he could be related to Yusuke with his looks. She knows he's not completely sunshine and rainbows, she's fully aware that Killua could kill them all if he wanted to and she feels she can safely assume that Gon could do the time.

But the important thing is that they don't want to and they're her dearly beloved fearsome little brothers. She loves them a lot and though it's, of course, unneeded she still wants to look after and dote on them as much as possible.

Maka kinda feels like she has to be cautious around Rin sometimes but at the same time...cautious isn't what she does, like, duh he's a boy he'll get over it. She's reminded a little of Black*Star in that he's a rambunctious boy that has a dubious ancestry he's judged on, except...Rin's a lot nicer than him, like, he actually says nice things to her and means it?? What's up with that. She doesn't entirely get why his ancestry is such a big deal, but hey, he's not from her world and she's already learned she needs to choose her words carefully about mechanics of their respective worlds.

Xion and Maka on Chihiro, please!

Xion thinks Chihiro is very nice, from her first impression of him. But please don't call her "san" that's weird and she doesn't know how to deal with people respecting her. She also feels a little reminded of herself when she looks at Chihiro, her second thought is "wow why is he so cute"

Maka is very very heavily reminded of Crona with Chihiro, which is why she's kinda...mentally referring to him as "he" now, because though Crona's gender is indeterminate too she still refers to them as "he" in the dub for pronoun sake.

I mean you remember the part where I said it sucks to be Maka, well, her relationship with Crona is a huge part of it too. Like, Crona was THE FIRST PERSON she ever actively reached out to and befriended, she started to become more of an open person by opening her heart to Crona. Then Crona's fucked up mom took them away and Maka went literally to the moon and inside the goddamned final boss to see them again. And she still lost them anyway.

So Yeah?? Seeing Chihiro and protecting him is very important to Maka, and she tries not to let hr sadness about losing Crona color that so much but hyeah

Fuck like, Botan values Yusuke SO MUCH, coming to the realization that she seems him as a brother was both liberating and kind of scary because--well--she knows that he thinks she's weird and if she brought up that idea and got rejected she wouldn't be able to handle it. But then there was that blunt "we're all weird dumbass" conversation and she just crumbled. He'll probably never be aware of how much of an impact he actually has on her, for all that she gives him shit about being a foul-mouthed slacker, he's actually the most important person in her life--yes even after Koenma--and she'd give up everything if it was for him. She's worried about the effect the encounter with Raizen has had on his life, even though she knows how it ends he's STUCK right now and the effect is like that of a caged lion, when it comes to the surface it's not going to be pretty and she's so worried about him.

As for Maka, Yusuke reminds her of the idiots back at home and that's all right with her. He might make casual threats or shitty comments but it's nothing she's ever heard before and she can deal it back just fine, that he has no problem responding to violence is a bonus. Also he's entertaining as fuck to watch with his flailing.

I'm going to blow everyone's minds with spoilers here: Maka actually DOES care about Joker and see him as a friend. And that scares the shit out of her. How dare he look like her father, how dare he act like he gives a crap what she has to say, how dare he be sympathetic. Nobody gave him the right to, she doesn't have room in her life for another adult male that treats her like family, he'll leave her behind too, she grew past needing validation from a dad figure. Maka highly values her independence, her ability to brush off being ignored or ditched because, hey, she expected it, she doesn't need anybody and she doesn't want to form a makeshift "family" with anyone, her own actual family fell apart, why would she want to see that happening again?

But, Joker wormed his way in and it snuck up on her, she honestly can't imagine going a day without seeing or talking to him now and that infuriates her. She just knows that she can't get closer to him or it'll leave her behind, it'll open up another hole in her life, but it's already happened and she can't stop it. It just makes her angrier and angrier, stop saying nice things to her, stop looking like her father, stop having no regard for your own health. Just stop it.

She does feel like she has a civic duty to protect idiots from themselves, or at least she feels she has an obligation to protect this idiot from himself. She doesn't respect him, but she does care about him, she does see him as a friend. Even scarier, she is starting to see him like a weird uncle that she never had.

Okay that totally drained me I need to take a break before moving onto kirikou and garry.

KIRIKOU. Her view of him has actually changed a lot since he came to Johto. At first she thought "oh good I'm finally not alone here" but was mildly disappointed that it wasn't someone actually on her team, still, it's a good opportunity to get to know Kirikou because she realizes that she doesn't actually know a lot about him at all (thanks Ohkubo).

Some of his quirks are aggravating to her and she really doesn't get his enthusiasm about dancing, she's always been too sure that she's going to mess up and get made fun of to try (when you're a perfectionist you're totes unwilling to try things you know you're not going to be instantly good at). But then again, it's nice having a friend to think about during the day, that's part of why she gets so many Pokemon for him, she sees one and thinks "oh I bet Kirikou would like that one."

he is the only one she's at present shared a lot of her insecurities/troubles in Johto with. While she feels bad about dumping that load of drama on him, "burdening" him with her troubles and worries, she also...feels like he's the only person she can actually trust with that. He won't tell anyone, and he'd give his thoughts on it honestly without coddling her but at the same time not calling her stupid for it. And it feels nice having someone you can really rely on, especially with the absence of Soul or any of their female companions.

Also he didn't get all weird about the asking him for a hug thing so, at least she knows he's as comfortable around her as she is with him.

And Xion's honestly shocked at how NICE Garry is, she's still not sure if he was actually real or if she imagined him.

Veronica and all~?

Botan thinks Veronica is very cute and of course he natural reaction to little girls is to spoil the hell out of them like a big sister should.

Maka likes Veronica and thinks she's nice, she's a little surprised by her speaking praise about taking down the Chupacabra. A) usually people react with "whoa what the fuck" when she talks about fighting monsters and B) she's...not used to praise from people in her own age group okay.

Xion is not going to lie, the X-like pattern on Ronnie's face threw her off for a moment, but then she actually started talking to her and realized, oh no, this girl is nice. Cue the "I'm making frieeeends!" high. She would really like to go to the beach with her and maybe make a shell charm/bracelet whatever. FRIENDSHIP!!!1

Possible first impressions on Korra, for Maka and Xion obviously?

Xion doesn't know what happened to Korra back at home, but she can super relate and she wants to try to do what she can to put a smile on her face, that's a good impression as far as she can understand because if she's not scared of someone right off the bat it's usually a good sign. The only older lady figure she knew back in her own world was Larxene who is......scary beyond all reason so yeah let's not think about that. She doesn't know anything about family units at the moment, but if she could put a name to it Korra would kind of remind her of an older sister type.

Maka thinks Korra is super cool and hopes that some of her talk about her own world hasn't put her off. But she seems kinda chill with it so??? She's really super curious about these weird parallels that their worlds have, even if it's stuff that was so long ago in the history of her own world it's defunct now. Korra arrived in a weird time in Maka's life, where she just lost a bunch of her friends and even the first one that she made in Johto/considered her best friend, so she's a little...warier about making friends? But she won't give up!! Friendship is important! and yeah she gets the "in need of girlfriends" sentiment what's up with all these guys she hangs out with

Maka on Twi, and Xion on Ilya!

I joke a lot about how Maka views Twilight as a senior to her junior but it's actually kinda true? It doesn't occur to her that she and Twilight are one in the same, she figured she'd be annoyed by someone that's like her (because self-esteem issues and bluh) but Twilight is really cool and smart and Maka LOVES being able to have thinky type conversations once in a while. She just hopes she…doesn't come off like a total idiot in them, she certainly feels less smart than Twilight.

Initial "I'm so sorry that I don't remember you 8(" feelings from Xion aside, she fully embraces the idea of being friends with Ilya. First thoughts were legitimately along the lines of "she has a pretty name" (Simple Replica) now she's looking forward to catching up with her so they can be proper combat partners. She'll work hard, please continue to be patient with her Ilya!!!
