Now there's a challenge, player — having to narrow it down to just one favorite. Though if you don't mind, I'm going to assume that it's also fair to interpret "word" as "term" or "phrase", as well.

So to answer your question, I've always been a little partial to L’appel du vide; it's the French term for the instinctive urge to jump from a high place you're standing on.
