→ The mods are holding a tournament in November. The timeline is currently unknown (it depends on how many participants we have) but we anticipate it going for a good chunk of November!

Nerds of Route, unite! (But non-nerds are welcome, too)

Reid is determined to figure out the rules behind Route and to get a leg up on criminals. This means that he has a lot of research going on at once; at the moment, the main projects are his survey (speaking of, sorry I haven't kept up with tags on it, but I've been reading all the replies and I'm making a write up of Reid's notes), Ghost- and Psychic-type Pokemon and how their powers can be defended from, and possibly finding a way to create the equipment he needs to get into the nitty-gritty of Pokemon biolody. (And by that, I mean that he might try dragging in fellow engineers and make a makeshift MRI to help with his Pokemon research.)

What does this mean for everyone else? Well, lots of things! If you're playing a nerdy character or one who just wants to help, Reid would really like some helping hands. So far, a bunch of people are pitching in for the survey stuff, and Reid and Albert are the main guys researching flora/fauna and trying to make useful things out of them. Anyone can offer Reid help, anecdotes about weird goings-on in Johto/Kanto, notes on Pokemon he hasn't encountered yet, or even just lend him a Pokemon he hasn't seen so he can get a good look at them.

Is your character not the nerdy type and more the 'take other people's stuff' type? That works too! So far, Reid hasn't made it a secret that he's doing a lot of research into this world, and seeing as he's pretty thoroughly with the 'good guys', anyone can make the leap of logic to guess that he might try cooking something up to put a wrench in Team Rocket. Therefore, I'm totally up for a plot that involves him being threatened, attacked, or stolen from to get at his notes or something. Really, it'd be totally IC, since the kid has some weird ability to attract abuse like nothing else.

So if you want a piece of this general player plot or you have suggestions or something, please tell me right here or use a PM. There's no specific schedule or anything big that has to immediately happen, so there's a lot of room for creativity. Go wild!

Kayneth has been sort of trying to get some kind of initiative together for this, so he'd definitely be interested in this... right now he's mostly dicking around in the Ruins of Alph and checking out Unown and shit, so that could probably come up...!

Reid has stumbled around the Ruins a little, but since he's only one person, he's been forced to prioritize his other projects over checking it out too thoroughly. Reid would be glad to put Kayneth's notes on the Ruins together with his more general notes about the world and trends. If it's possible, Reid might set up a document on the network that he and the people who're helping can access and edit together.

Sion already has a keen interested in Reid, from what he's seen. The guy's plainly extremely talented and Sion has things he's looking into that could benefit from that kind of talent.

Which is to say, hi we should plot sometime. :)

Apollo didn't fill out the survey because he can't read and listening to the text reader for something that long annoys him, and he hasn't responded to the various Science! posts because he doesn't get what's going on/they don't sound interesting/he's not a nerd, buuuut he could fit in with this. He can "talk" to Pokémon and ask them things, and he's well on his way to knowing what all the edible and medicinal plants are here, both for humans and Pokémon. Once spring comes he'll be trying to plant various Berries and stuff from the PokéMarts, so he'll be a source of hands-on knowledge about that stuff, including the nightmare of trying to grow the Sitrus Berry he won from the Bug-Catching Contest, which according to the mods is from a warmer climate and will be hard to take care of.

So just leaving this out here even though I have no idea how to get him to talk about this stuff with Reid.

Well, I can definitely see him managing to be worked into the plot. Reid is mainly dealing with the mental and emotional effects of Pokemon/the world that shouldn't happen, whereas Albert's been dealing with the stuff in the physical realm. You should probably talk to Alex about Apollo and Albert somehow talking about the berries, because I think the nerd duo would find that very useful. :3

Reid's pretty set for talking to the Pokemon, though, because he's friends with Fluttershy and has a psychic Pokemon who's happy to translate for him.

Reid doesn't. His mun totally does, though. Reid says that Albert should blame the mun.

And yes. Yes, we can. We can put all the other various medical devices Reid builds in the basement too. It will be made of Pokemon and science.

I don't know how they'd get talking about it, but Apollo's becoming pretty knowledgeable about the plants here that're edible and medicinal for humans and Pokémon. Plus, once spring comes, he'll be trying to cultivate some Berry plants in a more convenient (for him) location, including the Sitrus Berry he won from the Bug-Catching Contest. If he can get a reasonable production out of them he could be persuaded to give the nerd duo a couple Sitrus Berries for testing, but the mods said that they'll be smaller than normal because it's not the right climate, so it wouldn't be a perfect match. A different hands-on view about the plants and their growing conditions might be useful though, even if Albert's science stuff would go way over his head.

Riku isn't a super nerd, but he has done a metric ton of research on Pokémon and has a very large selection of species if Reid wanted to examine some of them. One includes a technically extinct Pokémon, but due to Terror's viciousness, he'd be very, very hesitant about lending her unless Reid had something that could stop her in her tracks, like Thunder Wave or Hypnosis.

He's also been in the game since it started, so he has loads of personal experience on odditites like the MISSINGNO. incident.

But no, seriously, Reid would find his expertise/Pokemon invaluable. Although he might want to leave Terror in her nest for the meantime, because Reid is totally not ready to deal with angry!dinosaur thing. But otherwise, since Reid is a total sweetheart and goes out of his way to treat Pokemon well, any Pokemon loaned to him would be taken care of well and, unless they wanted to be difficult, wouldn't find much reason to complain. He really just wants to watch them in action, ask them some questions via Flora, maybe ask them to help build an FMRI etc.

UNFORTUNATELY Hope's not a bio guy but he does make extensive notes of stuff he goes through this place. He's also got an archaeology bent so if you want someone with a lot of info on the Ruins of Alph he's your man.

Up above, we're talking about some kind of communal file where researchers could pool their findings. If everyone could throw together their knowledge, something could be done with it.

And yes, Reid might try dragging in Hope for the FMRI thing. Reid remembers the mechanical diagrams he's looked at over the years and he has a PhD in engineering, but he hasn't really tried making a machine like this. He could pull it off on his own, but it would go a hell of a lot faster (and probably a with a hell of a lot less frostbite and electrocution) if he had someone with experience on board.

Twilight is, of course, all over this particular initiative. She's more used to working solo or under the supervision of her mentor than she is to working in an actual group, but she's open-minded and always eager to share her findings. She just might have to have it directly pointed out to her that maybe working with someone else on a particular experiment might be a good idea.

Notes directly related to Pokemon and their abilities are her primary focus (for now anyway) with a side interest in legends. She also occasionally does experiments just based on a subject she's recently gotten stuck in her head (like the one where she tested repel's effects, which ended up with a Zubat in her hair). And since one of her most powerful pokemon is a Kadabra, she'll have lots to contribute on the subject of Psychic-types.

If they're ever together or she's willing to work over the the network, Reid can give her some semblance of mentoring. He's not really the supervising type, but he can do it, and he's already giving Mio an education.

Reid might want to make use of her Kadabra, since his priority at the moment is the study the effects Psychics have on the brains of different Pokemon types (he wants to know what it is about Dark Pokemon that neutralizes Psychics and ghosts), and otherwise would just plain be interested in seeing her notes.

A leak in the Team Rocket

In all seriousness, I'm open for Ren to get caught sooner or later. Not like, by the end of the week or anything, but still soon. He's not really the ultimate spy-type, after all, even if he does act quite well.

Though for Utau, the mun would like for her not to get caught anytime soon. So if Ren is busted, Utau wouldn't be (especially since Ren would claim he's the only one behind any leaks).

So I'm all for plotting how Ren eventually falls down.

Just putting it out there that if Lightning somehow hears about an attack on Ren, she may get a bit angry and go out there to help. >> maybe. She'd need to hear about it before it happens in order to do anything, so this may not affect any plots at all. Just saying.

Ren will most likely send out a message saying that he's not able to continue on... though it might also be sent too late, depending on what happens.

Archer is all for taking out leaks at the source! He and Kimblee are both ridiculously overpowered and tend to go for the kill though, so it might be better to have someone else assigned by Team Rocket to go after Ren.

I can offer Ryuunosuke for that! He's less powerful and likes hurting people (and killing them in canon but he can't really do that here) so he'll be content to chase after Ren and attempt to teach him a lesson for meddling with Team Rocket (not that he cares, he just likes beating people up with his Pokemon :| ).

Obviously I wouldn't send either of them after Ren until he's caught leaking information, since neither of my characters knows him very well and they don't suspect anything.

Considering Hope and Lightning are practically attached at the hip, you can expect him to come along as cavalry with his sis if she gets wind of anything.

This guy is canonically terrible at finding leaks in basically...every version of G.I. Joe, so he's probably not going to be the one catching Ren. He will however, complain and yell at everything once he gets found out though.

That sounds cool. Traumatizing, but cool. Maybe a rumor about the Pokemon Tower could be spread, and some people go to check it out and get trapped by ghosts?

I'm not familiar with Corpse Party, but after looking at the wiki, count me in. :3 Reid's been poking around a lot of ghost-heavy places, so maybe the ghost could get pissed off or something? Or maybe we could use Nobita-mun's idea and have there be a rumor spread around.
