It's time for a MEME

Crowning Moment of Awesome Meme

Everyone has done something awesome in their lives, whether it was being a total badass and saving the world or just talking down a schoolyard bully, and apparently, someone recorded that awesome moment (or wrote it down or made a comic about it or what have you). Now that awesome moment has been posted everywhere, and characters get to react.

Rules!

1. Find an instance of your character being awesome in canon.
2. Post links to videos, embed pictures, copy and paste passages, so on and so forth, as many as you like. People can pick and choose what they react to, or react to all of it.
3. Please include trigger warnings if they're needed and don't put more than one large picture (or two small ones) in a single post, and instead link if you want to add more.

You, uh...

[No, seriously, that was horrifying.]

Your, uh, your description doesn't really do it justice, does it? [you survived all that you have all the respect ever of all time]

[She's quiet for a long moment, perfectly aware of what just happened. Reid y u gotta look like that. :<

She wraps her arms around herself and nods] Talking about it is one thing. Seeing it is another; but actually living it... [Mio's staring off at nothing in particular, her expression carefully blank as she remembers]

[He doesn't mean to make sad Bambi eyes. They just happen. ;.;]

Well... like I said, if you want to talk...

[He doesn't know what to do with his hands. Should he be touching her right now?]

I don't even know what to talk about. [There's a pause and she reaches out to curl her fingers around his sleeve again, clinging to him that way until she's sure it's okay to go in for a hug.]

It didn't miss much, but... It didn't show having to hide in the hollow tree graveyard for a while, or being attacked in the tunnels. Or... [She swallows hard] ...Seeing Itsuki hang himself.

Those videos don't even show the worst of it, to be honest. [except for having to kill her sister, that's about as bad as it can ever get, but that goes without saying.]

[When he feels her fingers at his sleeve, he puts his hand on her back between the shoulder blades, since he's picked up that that's a cue for a desire for contact. If she wants more affection, he's alright with her initiating it.]

Well, you could talk about anything, really. You could start with what disturbs you most if you need to get it off your chest, or the least of it to work into the difficult parts, or even just starting at the beginning and talking about it linearly.

[Also, he's a little suspicious of your relationship with your twin because Mayu says some things that seems to imply more than sisterly attachment, but he's not touching that at the moment because you should probably deal with her death before you deal with that.]

[She's quiet for a long moment. She told him about the ritual part at least, so it's not like there's not much else to reveal. Since he picked up on her cue (as she sort of suspected he would, and how strange and interesting it is to think about that they've reached a level of understanding like that), she slides her arms around his waist and hides her face against him.

Her voice is slightly muffled, but still decipherable] When we were little, I got too far ahead of Mayu and she fell from the mountain path. [In the flashback something might've seemed a little--off. Hadn't Mayu been a little too far from the edge to just fall? Unless she's purposefully moved...

Mio, however, is none the wiser to that] It was all my fault, if I hadn't gotten ahead of her... I promised I wouldn't leave her alone after that, and I took care of her. She depended on me for everything and I never left her side. But I kept losing her in the village. I'd save her, and then I'd turn around and she'd be gone. It's like I couldn't win at all.

[Reid keeps his hand between her shoulder blades and wraps his other arm around her shoulders, keeping her secure against him. To be honest, he actually was pretty suspicious about that fall, and Mayu seems to be a pretty manipulative person, but once again, not touching that yet.]

Mio. You were a little girl. It's normal for children to fight siblings that are close in age, let alone run in front of each other when they're excited about something. Her fall wasn't your fault.

[He looks down at the crown of her head, his eyes soft.] And neither was losing her in the village. From what I saw, you were doing your best. No one could ask you to do more than that.

My best wasn't good enough. [It's a matter-of-fact mumble and she frowns.] I always told myself, 'if only I was there holding her hand...'

[She sighs] I guess it doesn't matter now. When we got to the village I thought everything would be fine. THat we'd just find a phone and call our uncle and leave, but--

[There are two other short videos. The high-pitched laughter of the girl in the bloodstained kimono makes her shiver] ...But it wasn't going to be that easy.

((OOC: Warning for the second clip as it shows Mio and Mayu sharing a vision which includes, among other things, the brief image of twins being hanged, jumping images, and a woman being strangled.))

[Reid doesn't like these videos. :<

He's kind of glad he's holding her, even if he doesn't quite know how to deal with their contact yet. It makes him feel like he's doing something.]

It's... you know, Survivor's Guilt is very common in survivors of disasters and trauma, especially if a close friend or family member died.

You went above and beyond what most people would have been able to do. I don't think you realize that, but maybe you will some day.

[There's not much to like in Mio's time in the village. Unfortunately. 8(

She says nothing for a moment before giving a soft sigh] I just wanted to save my sister. It wasn't anything special.

[Where was she in her story...] We couldn't leave the village and the sun never rose. The whole week we were there... There was no sun, and no food. I didn't even notice because I was in too much of a panic; coming here was...strange after that.

We were so close to leaving when she got grabbed. I could've left without her. [Okay no she couldn't have. She wouldn't be able to live with herself.]

[Reid listens quietly. He figures there will be a clear signal when she's finished with her story, and right now, he feels like the best he can really do is listen quietly and let her get it off of her chest.

...Although that does explain why she always wants to see the sun rise.]

[She's quiet a moment longer] I don't know. I ended up running around the whole village, learning about the people and... fighting them, in some cases. Some of them were grown men and women, and some were... were children.

[And fighting the children was always the worse. Even though they were ghosts she was still, more or less, killing them.]

Itsuki was the only one who didn't want to kill me. He was locked in the storehouse, but there was a window I'd talk to him through and he'd give me advice or cam me down. [Pause] When I found the key to the storeroom, I needed his help one more time, and I thought I could let him go.

I guess deep down I knew he had to be dead already, but... When I opened the doors and saw his body there... I thought I'd feel more. I was so drained I couldn't even react much. [She pulls away some too look up at him, worried] That's not normal, right?

[Reid's eyes are soft, but he averts them, once again his thoughts distracting him from putting in the effort for eye contact.] Mio... there's no standard reaction to trauma or grief. It's... well, even just talking from personal experience, it's very common to stop feeling things you would normally feel if you're in an extreme situation like that. It's a coping mechanism--your mind is protecting itself from completely breaking down by putting aside how you feel for later.

[Wait eye contact that's a thing he should be doing

He'll quickly make it again.]

Now that you're in a less stressful environment, it'll probably start filtering to the surface so you can deal with it now that you're not fighting for your life.
