Walter | Shin Megami Tensei IV
With a yell, he charges forward and slashes at the tree with a practiced motion. But...
...well.]
Damn this confounded-!
[He storms back to pick up the stone and try again, consternation fading into outright aggravation.]

That could not happen! Not under any circumstances!!
So, it was with great admiration that Rin watched the young man use his makeshift blade. Now, why hadn't he thought of making a sword? ...it didn't cross his mind, even once. Anyone could brandish around a sword - Rin often did - but to see how fluidly this man moved was a sight to behold.
And it was damn cool.
Maybe this guy would be up to having an inexperienced sparring partner? ...But first, Rin would have to actually approach the guy. The guy with the weapon. The guy with the weapon who seemed really pissed off right now.
Eh, he'll take his chances.]
Oi! [Big smile, friendly wave - emphasis on friendly - totally not even gonna bother reading all the ~tense atmosphere vibes~. And, bonus, he happened to have a little puppy-like pokemon following him too! She was a Poochyena, and as far as she was concerned, this man was none of their business.]
Are you okay? Looks like you busted up your ...sword? [Stone sword thing. Pointy stone. Sharp rock. ...It was supposed to be a dagger, wasn't it.]
...this would be such great CR
He raises his eyebrows a little at the question, waving a hand at the ground to gesture to the metal rod and makeshift whetstone.]
Hardly that. Nothing here seems to hold an edge long enough to put it to use.
[He glances to the Houndour at his side. Relying on demon familiars isn't anything new, but...jeez, he'd really like a sword or something for his own use. Even if these things are strangely cute and docile.]
it really would be...
Rin stuck his hands into his pockets as he took a look at the sword materials.]
That's because you're tryin' to make a sword with a rock. You need heat or something to even make the blade stay. [Unless he was going for the cave man look, then he's got it down pat.] ...Or you could tie a better knot.
[Rin was pretty sure he was giving good advice.]
don't do it rin walter will only lead you to the demon apocalypse GO NEUTRAL GO NEUTRAL
'Twere as simple as finding a smith, I'd do that. [He drops his head and squeezes the bridge of his nose aggravatedly.] A blunt weapon's better than none, I suppose...blast...
[He shakes his head and gets to his feet, looking Rin over. Seems like a friendly guy, kind of...maybe scatterbrained. But then, all foreigners seem a little scattered, in Walter's opinion.
He sticks his hands in his pockets.] Can I help you, then? [whatchoo doin over here dude]
fhjasf NO APOCALYPSE PLS
[And already he has left out all other important information. Granted, Rin was sure his flames could make a better sword.
But that would be tooting his own horn. Even if he could. It seemed as if Walter already had him pegged! Rin wasn't sure what to think of him yet but his first impression was pretty good.]
I don't need help. ...I came to see if you were really a swordsman.

Swordsman? Walter stands up a little straighter.]
More or less. I know swords about well enough to use one. [Doesn't care much for the art of it, just the hitting things with it part.]
no subject
Just try it out before brushin' it off!
[But Rin was willing to be... cooperative. Especially if they were going to talk about swords and fighting.]
That goes for me too. [Right down to the "stab-it-til-it's-dead" mentality.] 'Cept I've been in training with it. For important reasons. [Walter probably thought he was cool now, right? Cool enough to spar with? ...Or at least cool enough to tolerate his company?]

SO SHE WILL AT LEAST TRY TO OFFER HER CONDOLENCES and maybe vent a little at this person she doesn't know]
Aw, is it happening to you too? I don't get how this happens so easily...! I mean, it's not like I've been trying to make spears out of glass or anything. They're actually even worse than glass!
no subject
With that thought ringing in his head, Walter sort of...blinks at the girl. Innnteresting.]
Ah...aye. So, you have tried fashioning weapons here? [Just to clarify and divert the topic away from...glass...weapons. (???) The accent around here isn't as bad as what he's used to from Unclean Ones, but it's still distracting as all hell.]

Well, yeah! What kind of person lets an animal do all the fighting for them?
[NOT A HERO, THAT'S FOR SURE]
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they're not really good because there aren't any materials here and I never got to making a spear before anyway, but it shouldn't have just snapped the minute I tried using it!
