Also traveling companions since he's going solo right now and I'd at least to have someone in the general vicinity when I canon update him (which will be when he gets to Blackthorn in a century or so, uh).

Location: Ecruteak, actually. I haven't done a post there, but it's happened.
Blurb: Smug elitist aristocratic jerk mage prodigy who makes really dumb faces and has never faced difficulty in life before showing up in Johto, where he cannot use his fancy mage powers and is starting to have weird existential crises about it, along with being butthurt. Was a professor of sorts in his home world, so he's interested in figuring out how this place works (because it's challenging and... fun...). He's capable of coming off alright, but he still has some pretty elitist shithead views that he hasn't quite gotten rid of even after being stuck in Johto for a year.
Plans: He probably won't be leaving Ecruteak until spring because screw traveling in the snow, man. Shit sucks. He is also super invested in Legendaries and trying to avoid his Bad Future, but that probably won't produce many results.

All of the above, really! Though, since Ecruteak is one of the prettiest cities in HGSS I imagine he will be doing some artsy shit, so that could be a good conversation starter.

Yes. ...if I remember correctly Kayneth actually had nice things to say about her Smeargle's stuff, at least in comparison to the dubstep fiasco, so that might not go terribly.

(of course he's bound to fuck it up somehow because he's kayneth)

I'm not sure what kind of artsy shit in particular Kayneth's going to be getting up to, but if he's hanging out drawing or something, Rene might just kind of...run over and sneak in next to him and start trying to draw the same thing he's drawing. Which would be cute. :|a
