Faize, you precious dork. It's okay, Joker is kind of tripping along it either although he has the general idea.

By looking into psychic types, would that mean investigating the nearby Unown by any chance?

Research is his coping method, okok. Otherwise he probably would have snapped by now because nothing here is logical and he can't deal with that.

He's mostly looking into telepathic communications and how they develop/differ from species to species, stuff like that. Thank you, Kayneth, for putting the idea into his head But he could easily be persuaded to go back to the Ruins of Alph even though he's been there twice and solved all the puzzles already. THERE ARE ALWAYS MORE THINGS TO LEARN AND STUDY. Especially since he really never got into the Unown thing since the first time he went he was looking for a way out of Johto and the second time he just went to go catch some pokemon in the above ground, outside part.
