You're right. It wouldn't be good if something happened to it. I'll need to be more careful in the future. [And now that that's out of the way...] It's going to be a birdie! I know lots of animals hatch from eggs here, which doesn't make much sense, but I made sure.
[Torri may not emote well, but she still seems pretty excited about it.]

That's right! The eggs are pretty hardy here, but it's still better to be careful with them. This is your Staravia's egg, right?

[Minnie picks up and drops Atsuro's shoelace, then calls up to him. It wasn't a very pretty sound, but at least she manages a friendlier tone and her expression suggests that she's extremely proud of her egg.]
I think birdies hatch pretty fast here, but I still have to be patient. [It's more like Torri's reminding herself than actually telling Atsuro.] I'm looking forward to it just as much as Minnie Starlington.

And that's right. Eggs here usually hatch fast, up to about a few days if you keep it warm and care for it. Or it can take a few weeks! But I think this fella have a fast hatching time.
[Birds are common, so they should have faster breeding rate.]
And you're going to take care of it after they hatched?
no subject
[Though the odds of her just sitting on the floor of her hotel room staring at it for hours has increased significantly.]
Yes! Minnie Starlington trusted me with her egg. [Hmn...] But I have noticed that lots of people sell the eggs they get from their pokemon. Is it strange that I didn't?
[It might occur to her soon that asking Random Older Dude On The Street these types of questions wasn't exactly the way to go, but... Oh well. Torri liked to think of herself as a good judge of character, and Atsuro hadnt tripped any mental alarms yet.]

He shakes his head.]
It's not that strange. Most people sell their eggs because they generally couldn't afford to. Some Pokemon have a lot of eggs, so it'll be a lot of work to take care of that many babies at once. But if you want to keep them and it's not too much trouble, keep them.
[He had similiar troubles when he caught a bunch of new Pokemon at once, thus learning how to take care of all of them at once. Instead of one at a time...
Also, ow, his wallet.]

...I don't have an allowance anymore.
[Not that it would have been enough here, either. Less free food tossed her way from Wake or Ellie.]

I suggest getting a part-time job. Depending on where you work, you can earn enough money to support yourself and your Pokemon.
[Almost too well, sometimes. Of course, it also depends on the person's spending habits as well.]

I used to do work for the lab, but that was mostly fighting monsters. [The random trainers was what got her this far without a job, but after a while of repeat battles they might not be so kind to her.] What kind of job do you have?
no subject
[Which is cool and all. It's one of his career goals back home. But well, he only works if he have commissions.]
But when I'm not programming, I work in either retail or tech support.
no subject
I think I'm not sure that I know what a programmer is. [Lots of words for "what's that?", Torri.] To me, it sounds like it could be some kind of scientist or researcher.
[Which could either be good or bad... But she was still getting good vibes off of him.]
Is being a freelancing programmer hard to do? Is it fun?
no subject
[Hm. How to explain programming? The usual way, he suppose.]
Do you know what computers are? [If she does, it'll make explaining things easier for him. If not, he can use the PokeGear as his example.]
no subject
[She nods. They used those in the lab, too, though most of them were a lot bigger than pokegear, or even the PCs in the centers, sometimes.]
no subject
[She knows computers. That make things easier to explain.]
Programming is creating programs that can run on machines like computers, especially important ones that computers need to do any work. Programmers are people who make those programs!
no subject
Hmmn. I think that's good. Even if sometimes the programs can be used for things that aren't good at all... You didn't decide on that. It also probably means you're really intelligent, doesn't it?
