Okay, so this is like...the vaguest "plotting idea" ever, but sooner or later I'm really going to have to have Carmen pull off a heist of some variety or another. The problem is, she traditionally only does it when she's bored, challenged/provoked, or trying to mess with somebody, and the likelihood of her getting bored in Johto is pretty slim, all things considered, so that kind of paints me into a corner in the arena of motivating her to pull something.

That said, now that she's learning about Team Rocket's recent interest in the legendaries, she might be tempted (or susceptible to provocation) to go try to bag one of her own — either by tracking one down on her own or attempting to pull a Mewtwo and trying to figure out how to genetically engineer one from a fossil or something. (Don't look at me like that, she canonically tries it in an attempt to GET HER OWN DINOSAUR because why the hell not.) Anyway, the point is, she can have a really "anything you can do, I can do better" mentality, especially when it comes to stealing things, and it wouldn't be very hard to provoke her into trying to one-up Team Rocket on something or another, even if she's well aware she's being provoked into it or that it's a really obvious trap. Such is her ego.

I would also like to have her someday replace someone's entire roster with Metapods.

Basically, I don't feel like her stealing something is really capable of standing alone as a plot in and of itself, but I'd really like to find a way for it to help facilitate something else, if that makes sense?

...Or I guess she could always steal every Smeargle in Johto and try to paint her face on the moon again or something, hm.

If Carmen needs someone to compete with for heisting stuff, you might want to hit her up about doing something with Kaito? What with his Phantom Thievery and all.

Yeah, she can be kind of tricky in establishing the right motivation to pull that kind of thing; Johto's considerably different circumstances than she had at home, and two of her biggest factors for stealing things aren't currently here right now, so it gets complicated.

Certainly if Kaito were to, say, steal something she actively wanted before she could get to it, or to actually call her out on her prowess, she'd be on that in an instant. So I'll definitely keep him in mind and try to figure out if there's something to be done with that!

Oh my god, I would love for Carmen and Archer to attempt to out-ego each other with something like that - TEAM ROCKET CAUGHT A LEGENDARY YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY BEAT THAT-- wait what are you doing, you can't go after a legendary!!! >:|

Of course, that would involve Archer outing himself as a TR member, which he isn't interested in doing just yet. However, the plot mentioned above might end up outing Archer so! If it does, we can always work with that!

ANYTHING YOU CAN DO SHE CAN DO BETTER, ARCHER. SHE CAN DO ANYTHING BETTER THAN YOU.

As things stand right now — and this is particularly turning up due to Cobra, but I could see it generalizing to any of the Rockets, honestly — Carmen's starting to get a little irritated with them and the shenanigans they're pulling, and one of the likely ways she might respond to it is by aiming to beat them at their own game — out-thieving them, or getting to something they want first, or achieving the same thing but better, faster, neater...stuff like that.

So yeah, I would really love to get her into an ego match with Archer because she's so susceptible — to the point where she'll actually walk into a trap SHE KNOWS IS A TRAP just because she doesn't back down from the challenge. Granted we'd have to do some finagling to get things in line for it, it's true, but she knows that both Cobra and Kimblee are Rockets so pinging Archer wouldn't necessarily be as difficult as it might be otherwise, depending on how you wanted to play it? WE WILL FIND A WAY. It will be fun. :D

Oh yes; anyone who has seen Archer and Kimblee interact knows they're very close - it could easily be assumed that Archer would at least know about Kimblee's involvement in Team Rocket, if not actually be a member of the organization himself!

And if she taunted TR like that oh man would Archer go after her with the anonymous texts. Because EVERYTHING YOU CAN DO HE CAN DO SO MUCH BETTER TOTALLY!!!!!

I am so looking forward to anything involving these too, oh my god. 8D

Well, I can tell you right now that Archer is sort of on Carmen's radar anyway because of the discussion they had over the Meowth she bought — previously, every other time she's gotten an egg from someone, the dialogue has always been, "My key interest is in finding these dear creatures a good safe home," but with Archer it was "NO MAN LOOK HOW SWAG THIS CAT IS IT'S SO POWERFUL" and that made her go HMMM a little. Obviously that's nowhere even remotely near jumping to the conclusion that he's a Rocket, but he is a blip on her radar because of it, albeit a minor one. She also has the pictures of the Kimono Girls attack from off of Kimblee's Gear, but as yet she hasn't realized that the attack was caused by two people instead of just one.

So really, what she's got at the moment is a lot of potential pieces that will all abruptly fit together as soon as she gets The Big One, but she doesn't have the Big One yet and that's probably where the key to setting them off and running will come in. o/

OH MAN PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE TEXT WAR GO?? I hope he sends her some after she steals Cobra's bigass snake throne. SO MAD.
