Plotting!

PLOT DISCUSSION
(derp, sorry for lateness...)

TRAINER TIPS:
→ This is for general, game-wide or location-wide plots, larger-scale player plots, and general plotting ideas. This is not a CR meme.
→ The idea of this post is to help generate discussion, inspire, or plot out overall plots, as well as bounce ideas off of your fellow players and moderators. We will also be letting everyone know the overall ideas of what we'll have coming up, and you can give us input on those as well!
→ Please play nice while discussing things! Remember, it's okay to disagree, but be polite!

Sion and Ryner have actually been doing a fair bit of researching legends and legendary pokemon. Mostly it's just been a cursory overview so far, traveling all over Kanto and Johto under the premise of Sion going and challenging all the gyms, though Ryner's done some reasonable amount of research in Johto prior to Sion showing up, too. So they would probably have some interest in this, I imagine. |D

....oh, and Ryner in particular is a genius mage back in his world, incidentally. Which Kayneth may find relevant to his interests if he ever found out. :)
enjoymyatelier: actually, it totally will. (aha! a plan that will not end in failure)

Oh, excellent! Kayneth would be all over... both of those, really. Because, you know. Legends.

Sweet. |D ...though I imagine he'd be both awed and appalled if he found out details about how magic works and who can use it in Sion and Ryner's world. XD

Oh god is it only for commoners........
lightningbearer: (check please)

[personal profile] lightningbearer 2012-08-16 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Not "only", but it's not restricted by class, just whoever gets the training. Which given that it's standard training for any kind of soldier, means that it's very typical for commoners to be trained in it to act as soldiers and bodyguards and such, as nobles don't care to let their own kin dirty their hands with that sort of grunt work, after all. :)

....on the other hand, all magic-users in denyuuden world can literally see the magical energy they're manipulating. |D

Clearly explaining this can only be fun times, amirite?

For what it's worth, though, countries in their world treat magic secrets the same way mage families in Kayneth's world do. Similar principles, different scale!
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-08-16 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
...okay that honestly sounds pretty rad

magic: like nukes in a way

[personal profile] lightningbearer 2012-08-16 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
.....you know that is probably more true than you even realize.

I mean. it's explicitly mentioned somewhere in the canon materials that the reason all the extant countries have a crapton of magic, is because over the course of centuries of warfare and competition, all the countries who had inferior magic were wiped out. So. Yes. :Db

hahahaha snap

So is there like... magical espionage and shit? Because that sounds incredibly boss. I may have to check this thing out. Are there any smug middle-aged men whose souls are crushed over the course of the series?
lightningbearer: (standard :| expression)

[personal profile] lightningbearer 2012-08-16 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Well there presumably is, though it isn't touched on as much in the series. The hunting down of people who leave a country with its magical secrets without permission (caleld "taboo breakers") comes up plenty though.

And idk does arrogant nobleman side characters who occasionally get slaughtered in terrible ways count? Though really pretty much all the main cast has TERRIBLE lives and the nasty characters are... really nasty in ways that make you go "did they seriously just go there..." so. :D

Oh man, that sounds pretty sweet. Maybe I will have to check it out.

I would HIGHLY recommend it, it's seriously one of the best fantasy anime series that's been out in a while. Just, y'know, if you're not immediately hooked, give at least through the first three episodes. Trust me. :)
enjoymyatelier: things are good (birds are singing)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2012-08-17 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you know what they say about the three episode test...!
lightningbearer: (scissors!)

[personal profile] lightningbearer 2012-08-17 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. |D
