Thoughts on this charming, sweet-tempered guy here? c:

Ishimaru → Hagakure
Hagakure is one of those people Ishimaru didn't have a lot of thoughts about before coming to Johto; he knew he was there, certainly (unlike Kirigiri, whom he managed to forget even existed most of the damn time), but he never really struck him as someone he liked or disliked. Someone else to keep in line and keep on schedule, and someone to move around and check on from time to tiem, but that was about it.

YEAH NEEDLESS TO SAY that changed a lot in Johto. One of the things Ishimaru has been working toward, whether he realizes it or not, is seeing his classmates as People With Feelings, rather than These Individuals That I Have To Keep In Line Or So Help Me, and Hagakure has always been incredibly good to Ishimaru since he arrived - he's actually found it pretty touching, given that they didn't know each other very well back at Hope's Peak but Hagakure's always seemed to care about his well-being and all that. It was admittedly kind of confusing for a while, because Ishimaru couldn't exactly figure out...why that was happening; he's never been the most socially adept person in the world, though, and it took him a while to understand that whether they're all friends or not, all of the Dangans do have some weird sort of family-type bond going on and that's what family does for each other.

That said, he does consider Hagakure a friend by now, definitely; he likes talking to him, even if the conversations aren't always the most linear in the world (due to both of them being...well, themselves). He still doesn't exactly believe in...pretty much anything Hagakure does, but at the same time it's obviously important to him and Ishimaru has had enough character development to not immediately dismiss things that are important to other people just because he doesn't understand or particularly like them; he used to be very arrogant in that regard and he's managed to tone it down a lot, which is why he's so willing to humor Hagakure and let him tell fortunes if he wants to - it's obviously important because it's what he does, and if he wants to read fortunes for him or give him advice based on the current alignment of Jupiter in the house of Saturn or whatever, then he's not going to argue it and he's always admittedly kind of curious to see what'll come up. It's definitely a point of interest due to a curiosity/novelty factor, at least, even if he doesn't necessarily believe in what comes out of it. ...There's also the part where Hagakure is dead-on, like, once out of every three or four predictions on average, and that's actually a pretty decent percentage to be completely dead-on about something literally no one has any way to know anything about. So he's not quite a believer, but at the same time, holy shit.

Ishimaru also remembers a bit more about what happened in Hope's Peak since that incredibly rough canon update in January; he was catatonic as hell for most of the duration, yes, but he was aware of more than they seemed to think he was (as is evidenced by the...total disaster that was the Ishida thing, which was caused by Asahina's going on about a ghost and everyone deciding to just leave Ishimaru where he was while they went to check it out; he obviously heard them, given that he asked to see the "ghost" later, he just couldn't make himself do anything about it at the time) and while it's a bit surreal and hazy, he does know that Hagakure tried to help lead the others while he was out of commission and attempted to get him to come out of it a few times. It's not really something he's discussed with him very much, if at all; he...sort of tried when he first woke up (that's where the "you're a good person/I'm glad you're here" came from), but he hasn't really talked to him about it at length. That...actually means a lot to him, that Hagakure was willing to do that, especially since the others generally left him alone at best and discussed how he was "useless" now right in front of him at worst; Naegi tried to FTE him but otherwise no one but Hagakure really did anything, and the fact that he was willing to try despite not knowing him very well is, uh. Well, it's honestly the sort of thing that isn't getting discussed without a fucklot of tears, should he decide to discuss it at all, but they're good tears, he promises.

Basically he considers Hagakure a really good person and a good friend - kind of a space cadet at times, but that's sort of a WELCOME TO DANGANCAST thing by now, everyone has their moments.

...He's also given his permission with regards to Hagakure and Parker dating, so obviously he's doing something right because that's Ishimaru's sister we're talking about.

Alfred → Dist
This is going to be far shorter, just because Alfred is one of those people who doesn't form opinions on very many people; he has a lot of issues that basically make it very difficult for him to remember at times who he's spoken to about what, and as such he tends to prefer keeping his conversations mostly superficial and it's a large reason why he has such an attitude issue most of the time. (So actually no, it's not anything Dist is doing in particular to piss him off, despite the fact that Alfred tends to be snide in his direction a lot of the time.)

He actually does respect what Dist does, because his family is kind of based around SCIENCE!! and he has a very healthy respect for what people in that position are capable of; he also...okay there's really no way to put this that isn't blunt as hell/doesn't make everybody involved sound like they're six, but my god he really liked that bee. It's not common that he finds someone willing to work with massive insects, so he definitely approves of the giant metal-coated bee that he was allowed to, uh, play with for a while.

(He raised so much hell with that bee in the name of science, Dist. I don't know how useful the science was but there certainly was a lot of it.)

So yes, despite the general sense of Alfred that tends to come across in their threads, because Alfred is super-unpleasant, he does respect the guy? He's just really shit at demonstrating it and honestly doesn't see why he should have to demonstrate it in the first place because it's just sort of a given that you don't fuck with scientists where he comes from.

...In terms of personal/non-professional opinion, he. Um. Sort of doesn't have one. But again, that's kind of par for the course...

Ash:

Kayneth finds Ash to be a bit strange at times, but it's a respectable kind of strange. He only kind of understands people who limit themselves to a considerable degree for the sake of a challenge, but it's less "christ you're weird" and more "shine on you crazy diamond." Also, their conversations are generally pretty entertaining.

Cecil:

...also endearingly strange, but it's mostly because your world, dude. He admittedly has a better idea of where he's at with Cecil, being royalty and all, and even if his world is weird places where magic is common make his heart smile. Also, Cecil's fun to talk to regardless, so!

HENRY ON CYNTHIA BECAUSE YES

Kayneth on Dist:

magiscience bros okay but no, Kayneth is really fond of Dist because he feels very mage-y. Like, elegance, composure, good taste, loose grasp on morals... except weirdly more approachable? Like, he's actually a friend instead of just an acquaintance to Kayneth, and he's not entirely sure if that's because of Dist or if it's because he's starting to go native or something.

Cynthia on Dist:

She doesn't have a strong impression beyond general amicability yet, though she has no idea he was fucking with her. Mostly thinks he might be a little prissy and was thinking kind of weirdly grim with the legendaries....!

Cynthia on Rideaux:

Not... really strongly yet either, but it's nice to have doctors around! She should probably be more unnerved, but she isn't, because she's Cynthia.

Atsuro is like Chewbacca

He could fix things and he knew lots of stuff and he was tall and cool and probably the one guy you needed for anything and everything. Chewbacca was awesome. Atsuro was awesome. If Rin could refer to anyone with the title of 'big bro', it would undoubtedly fall to Chewbacca man, mostly because Atsuro has been there for Rin since the beginning.

When they first met, they hit it off pretty well - and since then Rin has been looking forward to any interaction they could get. They still have a friendly rivalry going on (and one day Rin will battle him!!!) But while he would love to get to know Atsuro more, he's a little afraid of suddenly disappearing again - and maybe this time his cool Chewbacca friend will be gone. Or, worse yet, Rin might leave again, come back, and not remember anything at all.

And both options sucked.

Still, he was more than willing to do everything he could do now to make great memories with Atsuro. Once Rin gets around to re-creating his Cool Guy List, Atsuro will surely find his name there among the other Cool Guys in Rin's book.

Greed on Kayneth and Cynthia, because why not.

Piper on his Siren?

Piper is one of those people that Ilya just knows is more than he seems. He's so very chipper and friendly, it seems like he's being open with you... but she also knows by now that he's clever enough to make that sort of facade pretty easily, and that he'd know how useful it would be. She certainly does, given that in many ways she does the same thing.

But she doesn't particularly care about what he's hiding. The way she sees it, they've all got their secrets, let him keep his. He's fun to be around, a perfect gentleman, and takes her teasing in stride. What else does she really need? Unless he proves to be a threat in some way, she's fine keeping things as they are.

Chihiro likes Atsuro! Apparently he knew him once when he was here in Johto before, and seems to believe the idea that they were friends, since he likes him from his experiences with him so far. He seems very nice and willing to share programmer info with him which he appreciates! He's going to use that Dubious Disk some day, he promises.

They did battle at prom! And they should totally battle again because they've got so many new Pokemon

Well you see there's a reason that I haven't gotten to your blurb yet am asking for Twi's thoughts on Maka and Ilya's thoughts on Xion right now.

And that reason is

....

Jimmy likes Al so far! They haven't talked a whole lot yet but he seems like a cool guy. Plus, he loves cats, and cats are cool! (Even though Jimbles is much more of a dog person, he appreciates animals of all kinds) And he's really eager to get to know him more and be his friend.

Ash
Ash finds him quite interesting! Which is actually a little impressive, because Kayneth's attitude can be a bit reminescent of the people a younger Asemu used to meet at his parents' military functions, and he hated those. Also, he might or might not be playing up his more pirate-y aspects once in a while to see his reaction. Just because.

Cecil
Cecil deeply appreciates Kayneth's presence, partially because he obviously comes from the sort of environment he can relate to, and partially because his theories and conclusions about the world surrounding them tend to make sense. He just hopes that if all the details about his world won't break his brain if they ever come up.

Rin is a totally nice kid, and Cecil is always happy to see him on the Pokégear! ...Even if he also kinda feels bad for him getting brought here and returned home and missing all the... fun parts of the year. So he intends to stay in contact regularly, especially to hear about future great and glorious Gym victories.

Cecil greatly enjoys talking with Ramza, partially because Ramza is that pleasant and partially because their worlds/situations appear to have quite a few things in common. Though it must be said that Ramza is very high on Cecil's 'Do Not Mention Actual Rank' list, mostly because he gets the feeling the resulting formality level would be impossible to bear. Still, he'll be happy to talk with him about any other subject!

Ash
Atsuro earned himself immediate brownie points by a) appreciating giant robots and b) knowing his way around computers and technology in general. Ash's strength has always been in engineering, but he can still appreciate good programming. He also feels perfectly comfortable telling him the nastier details about his world, mostly because Atsuro seems to properly appreciate how horrible it can be.

Cecil
Atsuro is one of those people that's been here for so long that Cecil's just come to expect they'll end up discussing whatever is going on when the Pokémon world is being silly, no matter what kind of silliness it is. And he always finds them to be fascinating discussions, too, since their backgrounds and experiences are so different. So that's a bonus!
